She forgot how good it felt, to feel alive. His presence so close to her, the words coming out of his mouth made her want to fight.

She was always a fighter. And it was always something her mother was proud of. Unlike her father who always tried to break her.

Julian tried to break her too. But was he successful in his attempt? Only with his death.

These thoughts of Julian in this moment would drive Dylan insane and she smirked upon realization that still, after everything, she has this kind of affect on him. So she stood up on her heels to get closer to his lips, only half an inch away from touching them with hers...

-"God I hate you." -he spitted out of his perfect lips with hollow eyes staring back at her.

She was drunk, but she was all too aware of the words spoken to her.

They hurt like hell. More than hell if you consider the fact that the part of her was thinking she was living in one.

-"Who the fuck do you think you are?" -she heard herself asking.

He raised his eyebrow arrogantly, still holding her tightly imprisoned between the wall and his body.

-"You think I'm afraid of you?" -she continued. -"You think you can hurt me even more? Well, think again. I have no hurt left in me. Only bitterness." -she lied. She had guilt as well but she'd rather be dead before she confesses that torturous feeling to him.

He couldn't say that he was surprised by her defensive destructable behaviour. Alcohol sure as hell gave her courage but it was still Leila he had met long time ago. He didn't expect any less from her even now when she had nothing to defend herself with. Nothing but herself which he admired and hated at the same time. But he'd never confess to that.

He finally stepped away from her and the wall giving her space to escape, to walk away, but she was still standing right there ready to fight until death if she needed.

He, however, was ready to let it all go.

His passiveness made her mad. His ego was unreachable, she was ready to drop nukes because of his ignorance.

-"Do you even care about how I feel?!" -she asked in disbelief.

-"Nope." -he shrugged his sholders.

This was a man that left her alone for weeks fighting her demons inside this prison. This was a man that deciaded she wasn't good enough to fight for. This was a man that gave up on them years ago when they had the chance. He hated her?! Not even as close as she hated him. And she was ready to show him that.

-"Don't you fucking dare to walk away from me!" -she yelled making him stop on his way out of the room.

He turned to look at her once more. Her arms were crossed which unbeknownst to her made her perfect breasts push up even more in that dress she was wearing. She looked so tempting without even realizing how seductive she was.

She was undeniably beautiful. And stubborn.

He wanted to rip off that dress she was wearing along with arrogant smirk from her face. He swallowed hard just thinking about it though he knew it would be a mistake.

-"Good night Leila." -he said while walking away hearing her yell behind him: "Fuck you Dylan!"

...

But what they didn't know was that their bickering and fighting only made them more vulnerable to their enemies. That night in LA there was a meeting held between the Cartel and one all to powerful gringo who was, for these last couple of months, their valuable associate.

The gringo appeared to know everything about Bates family and their power.

In his bad english, Cartel boss who was known only by "El jefe", asked the gringo:

-"How can we get the girl?"

Their unlike amigo (friend) smiled hearing the question.

-"You can't." -he simply replied.

Cartel boss wasn't too fond of the reply but he knew better than to argue with gringo. His reputation which associated him with Bates family spoke for himself.

-"So what do you propose?" -El jefe asked.

-"I propose I give you a special tour of the big apple." -gringo said.

El jefe smirked. -"We only want the girl. She is the sole heir to Hart. Debt must be paid."

-"Leila Reins is to valuable for the Family to give up on her." -gringo argued.

-"Didn't she betrayed the Family?" -El jefe asked arrogantly knowing well the answer.

Gringo smiled. -"The Family will deal with the betrayal as they see fit."

-"Without the head, the Family is vulnerable. They miss their boss, as you can imagine." -El jefe said.

Gringo laughed before gulping down his drink. -"Dylan Preston proved himself to be fit of the opponent, don't you agree?"

El jefe thought about it before nodding. -"So, we need to make a deal." -he concluded.

-"You need to give up on the girl." -Gringo was persistant. -"Before we make a deal."

-"I'll think about the deal if you offer a nice rich swap for her." -El jefe proposed.

-"I offer you West." -gringo poured himself another drink.

-"John Reins rules the West." -El jefe reminded his friend.

-"For now. Jason Bates is dead, remember? His corpse can't do anything to hurt Reins." -Gringo said.

El jefe laughed. -"That's the truth. Bueno (fine)....we're leaving for New York first thing mañana (tomorrow).
