When we stepped into the church, Jackson and Kai were buzzing with excitement. They were whispering about something, but I couldn't catch what it was. Jimin later told me it was something naughty. Anyway, they hushed up after Yoongi gave them a warning and Jungkook lightly tapped their heads.
The rest of the day, they sat around looking all sad with puppy-dog faces, while J-Hope comforted his boyfriend.
As I went to light candles, I noticed Jungkook. He was just sitting there, watching everything I did. He didn't join in with the prayers; he just watched us, especially me.
Every time our eyes met or I felt his gaze on me, my heart raced, and I got butterflies in my stomach. He always had that effect on me. I've always liked him, been pretty clear about it. And though I didn't know if he felt the same, I knew he didn't dislike me. The way he kept his eyes on me was proof enough. It made me feel like I was on cloud nine.
After we prayed, Jinie suggested we go to the little lake beside the church. There was this girl selling bread, and Jungkook and Namjoon bought all of it, even though we didn't need that much.
But seeing the girl's happiness when Jungkook handed her a wad of cash was priceless.I watched as the girl hugged Jungkook, beaming from ear to ear. He didn't hug her back, but he gently patted her head, making her laugh as she ran off.
I couldn't help but wonder what kind of dad Jungkook would be someday. I was sure he'd be a loving one.
We all sat by the lake, chatting and munching on bread. It was such a happy atmosphere, and the water felt so nice and warm.
Jungkook sat beside me.
We didn't say anything, just enjoyed each other's company.
"Do you come here every year?" he suddenly asked, breaking the silence.
I turned to him, finding his beautiful eyes already on me.
I got lost in them.
Sometimes I wonder how I fell for him so hard.
"I used to, with grandpa. But now, not so much. Only when my parents have time," I replied.
Jungkook looked back at the water, but his hand found its way on top of mine, resting on my lap. My cheeks felt like they were on fire.
"Just give me a heads-up next time you want to come," he said.
I looked at him in surprise.
"You... you'll come with me? Here?"
He didn't say anything, just gazed at me with those intense eyes of his.
I couldn't hold his stare, so I looked down at our hands. His hand was so much bigger than mine.
"But... I heard you don't believe..."
I started, but he cut me off.
"It's you I'm worshipping, not them," he said softly.
My world stopped as I looked back at him, his face inches from mine.
He whispered with the deepest tone,
"It's true, I don't pray. But for you, I will worship. And I will worship you and you alone."
The next moment, Jimin gasped so loudly that even the birds outside got scared.
"Morally grey,"
