Francisco

My eyes open slowly as a result of the incessant noise coming from a poorly turned faucet. I direct my attention from one side to the other seeking to recognize where I am.

For some strange reason, I can't feel my legs, much less my arms. Even so, I make an effort to sit down and with some luck, I succeed. My gaze drops to my clothes and I admire how a crimson stain adorns the white shirt I always wore.

-Ugh...

I forget myself for a moment and in front of me, I have someone I know in the same position I am in. Unlike me, he is bruised. Maybe more than me. He lets his head fall to his right shoulder and I can see his eyes. Those that generate so much hatred in me....

-I see, you woke up.

Esteban's annoying voice resonates and I feel his footsteps approaching behind him, I don't bother to turn around, since I am able to imagine the stupid cynical smile that always adorns his face.

-You fainted just by being stabbed...what a disappointment. Although....you're not dead yet. What a joy, you are not as weak as I imagined.

He crouches down to my height and roughly grabs my chin making me look at him. There he is, that angelic appearance covered in hypocresy.

-What is it that keeps you strong? I still can't understand it.

I remain silent, hopefully I'll manage to annoy him more than meets the eye and he'll kick me relentlessly. We find ourselves in a silent duel, where the opposing orbs dedicate long, mutual murderous wishes to us.

-Oh....Why do I bother asking you things in a nice way?.

-I was always a s**t, you knew it from the moment we met. Still you didn't do anything.

-It wouldn't be very Christian to embarrass yourself in front of a community of believers.

-I also knew that you weren't what you seemed, and I stayed silent.

-It seems you still have some manners left. You have not become as corrupt as ___.

-I'm not responsible for ruining your ex. She simply discovered that she did not like this way of living.

He sighs heavily and lets go of me, wiping his hands with a tissue and putting it away as his next act.

-Did she realize it according to you?.

-There are things that necessarily, one must decide how to face them. The battles of all human beings are different and complicated. You were never going to understand her.

-Do you pretend that you did it?.

-I'm not assuming anything. I only accompanied her, and gave her my support whenever she deserved it. I was the friend that you pretended before you knew I existed and would achieve something that you had achieved.
