"Become a demon?" You were shocked upon hearing Michikatsu's request.
"Yes... I know you don't like the idea of creating more demons in the world, but..." Michikatsu sighed.
"People who have obtained the mark are dropping like flies. I don't have much longer to live at this rate, and neither does Yoriichi." He took your hands in his and said "I want to be by your side forever."
"I..." You considered his request, but you couldn't get yourself to turn him.
"I'm sorry, Michi, I can't. You don't want to become a demon." You said.
"You're just afraid of dying." You said.
"You don't want me to die within a few years, do you?" He said.
You frowned and said "Of course not. But, being a demon is not what you want. I refuse to turn you."
"Why not?" He said.
"Because... you don't want to eat humans. You'll become a monster. Do you know how I was when I first turned? I ate everyone in sight. It's nearly impossible to suppress the urge to eat humans after becoming a demon. I can barely stand going without human flesh as of now, 500 years later." You said.

As he was leaving your small home, Yoriichi appeared as he left the house.
Yoriichi froze upon seeing his brother, and they stared at each other for some time.
Michikatsu looked sad about his impending doom, and Yoriichi had an unreadable expression, as usual.
He felt a sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach, wondering what he was doing at your house.
He walked past Michikatsu and made his way into the house.
"Yoriichi!" Both Li and Zihan threw themselves into his arms.
"We missed you! Why were you gone so long?" Li cried out.
"...I'm sorry for my lack of presence here." He said.
His eyes fell on you as you walked up to him, smiling softly.
"It's been awhile, hasn't it, Yoriichi?" You said.
His heart thumped loudly in his chest at the sight of you. He had missed you a lot.
