Restlessness. Pure, utter restlessness. I was tired, completely drained, but I just couldn't sleep. I would squirm and wiggle trying to find a comfortable position, but God forbid I could! I stumbled out of bed and stretched out my limbs.
"Midnight walks, why not?" I peeked into the hallway of the hotel and stepped out. I made sure the coast was clear and headed to the echoing fire-use stair case. My sandals clicked against the steel steps and I reached the lobby. Sure, I got some judgemental looks from the concierge, but I didn't care. I wandered around the abandoned lobby and sat on one of the chairs.
"Ma'am?" A woman asked.
My head popped up and I looked around before saying, "Hm, oh, what?"
"Is there any trouble?"
"Oh, no! Just couldn't sleep so I decided to just wander around." I shrugged. The old woman nodded and turned back to her computer. She glanced at me.
"You remind me a lot of myself." She gave me a small grin. "I can tell you have a bright personality."
"Thank you ma'am." I smiled shyly.
"What are you doin' in Texas, if you don't mind my asking."
"Visiting my family." I nodded my head and turned in my seat to face her.
"Well, why aren't you staying with them?" She asked typing on her keyboard.
I fidgeted in my seat, my body heat rising. "They kind of... Kicked me out." Why did I just tell a complete stranger that?
The woman chuckled slightly. "I know what that's like."
"Wha-? You do?" I stood from my chair and stood at the dark, marble counter.
The woman hummed a response. "I got into a little situation and my parents over-reacted."
"Oh... So what'd you do?"
"I lived on the streets for a while. A very nice man took me in... He's passed away now, but he helped me through..." She smiled. "He taught me how to move on."
"What's all this about?" A younger man walked out.
"I'm having a nice conversation." The woman chuckled and her wrinkled fingers typed on the computer more. The man, about twenty, nodded and smiled at me.
"No offense, but you look quite young to be working at a hotel." I spoke up.
"This is my son. He has a break between college and this is how he's making his money." The woman kept her squinted eyes on the screen and mumbled. "Excuse me." She walked off.
"Y-You seem very familiar... But I'm sure I couldn't forget a pretty face like yours."
"Good one." I rolled my eyes, not in the mood to flirt.
"I thought so. But, I do recognize you. You're that Charlie girl, right?"
"Yup, that Charlie girl." I held out my hand.
"Ben." He shook my hand politely and eyed me quickly. If my mother wasn't right behind this wall, I'd so- I ignored his disgusting thoughts. I fakely smiled and pulled away from the handshake. "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation, but you were kicked out?"
I gave a small nod while saying, "Unfortunately."
"Well, if you ever need a place to stay, you can be a free guest here." He smiled, somewhat flirtatiously.
"Appreciate that, but I'm sure that my family will realize that they made a mistake. God, you should've seen the look on my sister's face when my father bannished me off." I rambled to this boy and ran a hand through my bed-head hair. "Not even the fact that my mom's pregnant stopped my dad from screaming at me." I sighed on the verge of tears. "I'm going to go now."
"But-"
"It was nice meeting you... I'm sure I'll see you again. Reserve a room for me." I gave me a small grin before heading back up to my room. I put my pass into the slot and stepped in. I sunk into the bed and let some tears fall onto the pillow my head was rested on. "I'm so sorry Jen... I'm so sorry." I repeated those words before actually falling asleep.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"Jen...?" I mumbled sleepily. "Jen..." My voice grew louder and louder, my breathing rough. "JEN!" I shouted and sat up quickly. I wiped my eyes and shook my head ridding my mind of the bad dream. It was light outside, but it wasn't too early. I cracked my neck and knuckles and swung my legs over the edge of the bed. I pulled my hair into a very, very messy bun and grabbed my room key. I headed down to the lobby for breakfast, but as soon as I stepped out of the elevator I heard screaming. I took a step back and my eyes wandered over the crowd of fans. "Well don't I look appealing." I sighed and walked over to the complementary breakfast.
"Hi Charlie!" Someone shouted.
"Hi!" I smiled at them. At least one of the fans out of the others like me. I bit into the apple, my fangs making it an easy job to eat. I also made myself a coffee and headed back to the elevator, fans still in a frenzy.I blew a kiss to them and they cheered. The door dinged open and I ran into someone. "Oh, Jesus." I almost fell over.
"Sorry, love!" Louis laughed and helped me regain my posture.
"We were looking for you." Zayn added.
"I'm loved!" I laughed and stepped around them. "I'm gonna go up and take a shower." They nodded and the fans erupted into screams. It was blocked out with the doors dinged shut and I ascended to my floor. When they opened, I ran into another perosn. "Really?"
"Sorry!" Harry laughed.
"Second time." I sighed.
"Not your morning?"
"Nope. Couldn't sleep last night, hense the coffee. I definitely need some crack or something to wake me up." I joked.
"Aww!" Harry put his arm around my shoulder and squeezed me. "I can wake you up if you want me too."
"I'm okay. A shower will be just fine." I pat his shoulder and laughed.
"I can also help with that..." He called.
"I won't let you!"
