Lynda sat at her vanity doing her make up. She was in the fluffiest robe. She smiled as she put on a red lipstick. Makeup was her favorite thing to do. It was the most peaceful part of her day.
She hummed as she sat in the silence of her bedroom, vibing in the silence. She pulled her dreads up into a ponytail. Of course she let a few dreads fall on the sides of her face.
"Love this!" She said as she stomped her feet in excitement over her hair and makeup.
She walked over to her closet looking at her dresses. "Hmmm... I'm feeling pink today." She grabbed her pink flowy dress and pulled it on.
She danced around her room as she opened her windows. You see, Lynda was a free spirit. A happy girl from Louisiana. She was just always so happy and just felt everything.
She was emotional in a good way. She felt everything and loved that. But there was someone who was not too keen on it.
As she enjoyed being in peace in her room, her door opened. She saw Jackson standing there. "Lynda."
"Jackson... please. I wasn't doing anything wrong." She said as she decided to walk to her sock drawer normally.
"This childish act is getting annoying." He crossed his arms as he says that.
"I'm not childish. I'm just dancing around in the privacy of my room." She said as she sat down pulling her socks on.
Jackson rolled his eyes. "Hurry up we're gonna be late to the track."
She just ignored him and pulled her shoes on. She looked at herself in the mirror and tried to smile, but couldn't. She knew Jackson would get on her for not dressing 'like a woman in his family'.
She just sighed as she started to put her things in her purse. She paused when she saw Strips phone number. She held the number in her hands carefully, but then she put it in her drawer as Jackson looked at her with an annoyed look.
"Lynda. Come on!"
"Coming!" She said with a smile. It was forced.
Strip sat with his crew as they were being debriefed on something. He pushed his sunglasses back up his face since they were falling.
The group was dismissed as Chick made his way over to Strip. "Hey man." Strip said.
"Hey." Chick says as he sits next to his friend (he wouldn't admit that). "You look distracted."
"I am." Strip says as he sips on his water. He was hot, uncomfortable, and just wanted to take these fireproofs off.
"About?" Chick said as he laid down on the table.
"A girl."
Chick sat up like he was being resurrected. He looked at him. "So he is interesting! Who?"
"Her name is Lynda." Strip said as he pulled his hat rim over his eyes. Chick was stunned.
"And what's the problem? Ask her out." Chick said so matter of factly. Strip shook his finger at him without moving the rest of his body.
"She has a boyfriend."
"Well shit. There goes that huh- wait do you like her or..." chick asks wanting for info. Strip sighs.
"I just wanna be her friend."
"Oh there he goes again. I doubt that, especially if you are thinking about her. Just ask her out. Who would say no to you?" Chick said with smugness in his voice.
"That's not point Chick. Need to respect the fact she has a boyfriend EVEN if he's a little...
off." He said as he lifted his hat up off his eyes.Chick nodded. "Fine fine."
Strip got up and stretched. Chick smirked. "Then I'll ask her out-" strip smacked him with his hat. He knew he wouldn't but decided to retaliate anyway.
"Ahh fine I won't. You're just scared of my game." Chick smirked.
"I'm scared of your racing. Bye Chick."
"Bye strip."
Lynda smiled as she sat up in the box with her boyfriends family. She had a glass of champagne in her hand as she looked down at the track. She swore she saw someone wearing blue. She glanced at Jackson and saw he was busy talking to his family. She walked over to him. "Honey, I'm Going to get some air."
He looked at her. "Alright. Be here on time for qualifying." He kissed her head and waved her off.
She smiled and rushed out of her box and closed the door.
She smiled as she rushed down the steps. This girl was a free spirit. One who liked being near the action, and just loved being near the cars as well.
She got down to the entry way when she realized she didn't have her shoes on. "Shoot..." she mumbled as contemplated her decisions.
As she was about to head up.
"Sunshine!"
She turned around and saw strip. He gave her a funny look, realizing she didn't have shoes on.
"Did someone steal your shoes?" Humor filling his voice. She chuckled nervously.
"Ah, sorry. I just needed to get out of the box with my boyfriend and his... family." She said with a chuckle. "Sorry..." she said as she fiddled with her hands.
He chuckled a bit as he walked over. "I don't care that you're barefoot. But I do care you're walking around on this dirty floor." He said motioning to some of the trash on the floor.
"Good point." She said as she just realized how dirty everything was.
He opened his backpack and pulled out some sandals. He knelt down and put them In front of her. "Here."
The shoes were huge, like giant on her. She just laughed at the sight. "I look like a clown."
"Nahh." He said with a chuckle as he walked outside onto the sidewalk.
She tried to catch up to him. He noticed and slowed down a bit. "Thanks for the shoes though."
"No problem sunshine." He said.
She walked next to him. "Where in the south are you from?" She said curiously.
"I'm from South Carolina." He said as he looked at her. "You?"
"Guess?" She said. She was in a good mood .
He could tell."Hm... Louisiana?"
"How'd you know!?" She said shocked. He just laughed as she questioned him.
"I just guessed!"
