The date continued on. The two ate their food chatted the night away. He was talking about something.

Suddenly Lynda had the most bizarre question. She had asked Jackson this back then, he did not give a good enough answer. She lowered her champagne.

"Why do you love me?"

Strip choked on his drink slightly. "What kind of question is that?" He asked. But a small smile appeared on his face.

"To answer your question, I love you because of how you light up my life, how you light up a room, how you wear blue to my races, you watched everything I've done, how you take care of me, how you kiss me..." he thought.

"... how gentle you are. The way you make me want to win more. There's a lot, but that's some of the reasons why I love you." He said as he looked at her.

Lynda was blushing a bit. "Oh. Not what I was expecting."

"You should expect me to always give many reasons why I love you... I mean you are such a special person, so interesting and just..."

Lynda listened to him rant about her.

"... there's so much and it just makes me more sure I want to marry you-" he covered his mouth as he said it. Lynda now got to choke on her champagne.

The two looked at each other shocked. Strip was freaking out. He did not just say that. He covered his face, but it didn't hide the red forming at his ears and the exposed parts of his face.

"Strip...?" She said still stunned by what he said. He looked at her.

"I'm sorry-"

"Why are you sorry..." she said still in a bit of a daze.

"I know Jackson used to say that to you, and I didn't want to stress you with all of that." He said feeling so embarrassed. He couldn't look at her.

She got up, moving her chair next to him. She carefully moved his hands. He looked at her slightly. "Do you know... how happy it makes me, hearing you want to marry me?"

"I hope a decent amount."

She just smiled a bit. "It's definitely a decent amount."

His face started to look like normal. He just looked at her. "So... if I asked, you'd say yes?"

"Immediately I would."

The two walked out of the restaurant hand in hand. Both chatting and smiling to themselves. Strip was talking about the next race. Lynda just stared at him as they stopped walking for a moment. She just loved listening to his stories.

"Strip?" He looked at her.

She stood on her tippy toes and kissed him. He closed his eyes as he leaned down, making it easier for her.

He held her cheek as he did. She broke the kiss slightly. "I can't wait to marry you one day." She said quietly against his lips.

He just smiled a bit. "Can't wait to marry you too sunshine."

Chick made it back to the hotel the trio shared. He thought no one was in there, but he turned the light on and saw Tex sitting on the couch.

Chick just ignored him. "Since when do you not say hi anymore kid?" Tex said as he closed his book.

Chick stopped and just looked up a bit. "Tex I am not in a good mood right now."

"You've been in a lot of those as of late. Is that why my driver got punched?" Tex said as he stood and walked over.

Chick looked at him. "I was drunk. Sorry."

"No chick. It isn't as simple as that. If you punched anyone else that would've been an assault charge on your ass." Tex said getting concerned.

"I don't know where all this anger and rage is coming from, but you need to figure it out soon, and quick. Because... you're gonna get yourself in trouble and might lose your seat." Tex said as he stopped in front of him.

Chick rubbed his neck as he looked at him. Tex held his shoulder. "You guys have a healthy rivalry... but I don't want to see your friendship collapse because of it."

Chick shoved his hand away. "You don't understand...." Chick went to move.

"Try me." Tex said.

Chick turned and looked at him. "I am the runner up. That's my damn nickname! Do you know how aggravating that is? I'm not a race winner, but don't worry, when strip is in first I'll be right behind him!" He yelled.

Tex frowned. "So you want to win, and you're angry with him? How is that fair? You both have the same goal."

"It's fine we have the same goal, Tex! The problem is that when he's behind me, I know I won't be able to delay the inevitable, and I won't be able to get away. Hell! I can't even fight for the position!" He scoffed but then walked to his room.

"Chick-"

"Goodnight." He slammed the door.

Tex sighed and just held the bridge of nose as the door to the hotel suite opened. Both Lynda and Strip came in.

"Oh! Hey Tex." Lynda said as he waved at him.

He waved a bit and looked at them. He looks at Strip who was taking his jacket off. Tex had a feeling this wasn't going to go down well.

"Hey sunshine. How was you and Mr. Rookies date?" He said with a smile.

"Oh it was awesome!" She said as she started telling him about what they did.

Tex just smiled and prayed for more peace between the boys.

Both boys were on a crash course, and strip was the only one who didn't see it crashing. But chick... oh chick saw it crashing. The only different was he was at the controls, and was slowly letting go.

"Well! You two! Get some sleep, we gotta go get ready for traveling tomorrow. Gotta get to the next track." Tex motioned for them to sleep.

He just needed things to go well from here on out.
