Strip was showing extremely good results for this season. This practice he was showing he was the fastest out there.
His blue car piercing through the cars. It was hard to miss him.
Chick was also right behind him. During practice these two were consistently showing they were ahead do their seniors, and it was taking the world by storm.
After the final practice to the day, the cars were going to park. Lynda made her way down by the crew as he pulled up. The engine roared, and Lynda loved the way that it shook her core.
It was stunning. The car turned off and he got out. She made sure the water for him was extra cold since she knew he was burning up.
He pulled off his helmet. He traded her helmet for water. Like normal, he took a sip and then poured the rest on his head.
His crew took care of the car. "How'd I do?" He said as he looked at her.
"You did just the same." She said as she searched for a towel. "Got it."
She saw Chick walking over, so she waved. Strip unzipped his suit and pulled his arms out.
"Oh wow, look at him. No longer scrawny like in his youth." Chick teased.
"Damn straight." Strip said as he tied the arms around his waist. Lynda just looked at the other cars.
As the boys chatted, paparazzi made their way over with a reporter. "Mr. Weathers! Can we talk to you?"
Strip nodded and made his way over to them. "Strip! How do you see the race going for Dinoco?"
"Based on our current data and past races, we have figured out our pace and we think we're going to do well." Strip said making sure not to be overly confident. He still wanted to realistic.
"So you think you'll get points tomorrow?"
"Yes."
The reporter saw Lynda. "Who's this lovely lady over here?"
Strip looked at Lynda and smiled a bit but looked back at the reporter. "She is a good friend of mine. She is our water girl for the time being."
"Not a girlfriend?"
"Nope. Not a girlfriend. She is a friend who is a girl." He smiled a bit as he waved as he started to walk away.
"What about your attack!?" Strip paused. He turned and walked back towards the reporters.
"The people who attacked me, aka. a senior racer, is being dealt with. I do not condone violence of any kind. Attacking another racer just goes to show that you are inferior and can't adapt to challenge a new opponent." He said without missing a beat.
"What do you have to say for the senior racers who are going to attack you on the track or off of it as well...?"
Strip looked at the reporter. "Don't try and attack me. They will lose. Have a good evening." He walked back over to the group, putting his sunglasses back on.
Chick lifted his fist towards him. Strip fist bumped him. Lynda smirked. "Getting aggressive now huh?"
"Nah. Just scaring the competition."'
Qualifiers went and Strip got pole position with Chick in tow. The stadium went wild when two rookies topped the charts.
"Way to go boys!" Tex said into the intercoms. Strip just chuckled tiredly. "Thank you. I'm tired."
Lynda smiled bright as he parked. She held a water bottle in her hands. He met her gaze as he lifted the visor of his helmet.
He was smiling under that helmet as everyone patted his helmet. He pulled it off as he made his way over to her.
"Well?" He said as he looked at her. She opened the water bottle and poured it on his head. He just chuckled and nodded a bit. "Thank you."
He wiped the water off his face. She looked at him. "Your driving fascinates me. And you did remarkable."
"Thank you, Sunshine."
"Not Problem, rookie."'
Strip and Chick went for a walk together a bit later. Lynda was tired so she went back to the motorhome with Tex.
Chick smiled at him. "We're doing amazing."
Strip chuckled a bit. "Yes we are."
"Think I can get the title?" Strip asked as he kicked a rock. Chick nodded. "Yeah. I know you can."
"I'm gonna go for it." Strip said. Chick figured he would. "That means you gotta win a couple races." Chick said thinking about that.
"I should do that huh?" Strip said with a soft smile.
"Oh yeah. You got a pretty gal to impress." Chick said with a smile. Strip thought of Lynda. "Yeah... I do.
Tex showed her the data for the cars in the motorhome, helping her to understand even more about NASCAR. She loved every bit of it.
Tex felt as if he had a daughter, and he loved it too. Strip got back, and quietly got in to not bother them. He just went to take a shower, and fell asleep.
