The next race was a fun race for Strip. He and Lynda decided to go public with their relationship.
For the first time they were arriving together at the track. Strip was excited. Lynda was especially cause finally she'd get these girls who keep asking him out to finally stop.
He wore his racing suit like usual, but for the first time, Lynda would be wearing dinoco blue. No longer just a hat or a bandanna, she had planned an outfit.
Strip waited in the car with Tex. She eventually made her way into the car. Strip looked at her and nearly died. She was wearing a little dress with a white bow on her hair, paired with silver jewelry and blue boots.
She looks at him. "Too much?"
"You look stunning." Strip smiled. Lynda blushed a bit. "Thank you, hun." She smiled a bit.
Strip raised brow. A new nickname? He liked it.
They arrived at the track. He got out and opened her door. He opened his hand for her. She held his hand tightly as they walked through the paparazzi. They wore matching sunglasses to avoid the flashes.
He waved as he walked with her. She smiled and waved as they walked through.
A reporter called for them. She paused when she saw it was Jackson. She motioned to Strip, and he followed.
"Hello!" Jackson said as he looked at her. "You look happy Ms. Lynda." He said with a soft smile.
She chuckled a bit. "I am pretty happy."'she said as she looked at Strip. Strip just let her do her thing.
"How do you see your boyfriend doing for the rest of the season?" Jackson asked.
"No matter what, he's a winner in my eyes. Nothing will change that. But, based on data, and his performances he's going to do well." She said with a toothy smile.
"Awesome. Thank you Ms. Lynda." She nodded and walked with Strip. Strip kissed her hand as he walked with her. "You are a kind soul..."
"I try." She said with a chuckle.
It was time for the race. Strip was getting
Ready to put his helmet on, Lynda walked on over. "You got this rookie." She said with a smile. He walked over and kissed her. "Thank you, Sunshine." He backed up and winked at her as he pulled his helmet on. He pulled the visor down and got into his car.
He wondered where Chick was.
Strip won the race. He raised his fist to the sky when he got out of his car. Chick didn't place very high this time around.
Strip got onto the podium and raised his trophy up. Lynda was with Tex cheering and clapping.
He walked down and was greeted by his team. He went over and kissed Lynda as she just praised him.
"I'm taking you on a date tonight." Strip said with a smile.
Strip got to his pits and then went to Chicks. He looked around. "Hey, where's chick?" He asked the crew chief.
"Oh he's in a meeting with the boss."
Strip nodded a bit as he decided it was probably best to leave.
Strip was at the hotel room getting changed. He pulled on a collared shirt, and his jacket.
He walked out after he put some cologne on.
He knocked on the room that Lynda insisted on getting changed alone in."Hey honey, ready to go?"
"Yeah!"
She opened the door and it showed a blue knee length dress that was satin. It was spaghetti straps.
She twirled and smiled at him as he put his hands in his pockets. "Wellll?"
"You.. are a goddess walking among earth." He said as she walked towards him. "And what does that make you?"
She said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She was slightly on her tiptoes. "It makes me a mere mortal." He just looked down at her as she stared at him.
"Kiss me cutie." She said. He leaned his head a bit further down and kissed her.
He broke the kiss slightly as her hands fell down his chest a bit. "I love you." He mumbled a bit.
"I know. Love you too, Rookie."
He chuckled as he held her hand. "Never gonna get rid of that nickname am I?"
"Nope! You could be a 7 time champion, and I still will call you Rookie." She smirked.
"Got it." He chuckled a bit. "Think I'm gonna be a 7 time champ?"
"Oh yes."
The two got to the restaurant. He walked in with her. They got seated. "Do you want wine tonight?" He asked her as he looked at the wine list.
"Nah, I like champagne." She smiled a bit as she looked around. "This is a really nice restaurant."
"Tex recommended it to me." Strip said as they were served wine. Lynda nodded at the waiter and sipped on the champagne. He just leaned back and looked at her. The glow of the candles covered her face.
"You good, Rookie?" She said with a chuckle.
He nodded. "Yeah. I'm good."
"I uh... got you a gift." He said as he reached into his pocket.
"I didn't get you a gift hun." She said as she looked at him. He shook his head and pulled out a box.
"You being with me is enough." He placed the box in front of her. It was rectangular. She opened it carefully, and then covered her mouth in shock.
"Strip..." it was a little necklace. It had a small little heart with a blue gem in the middle. The poor girl teared up.
Strip look at her worried. "Sunshine?" She just used the napkin to wipe her tears. "I'm not sad, don't worry. Just overwhelmed with love." She said with a chuckle. Every relationship she was in, she just wanted to feel loved, this is the first relationship where she actually felt cared for.
"Can you put it on me?" She said as she regained her composure.
"Of course." He got up, and held the necklace ever so carefully. He put it on her and fixed her hair. He sat back down across from her.
"Perfect."
