Strip ended up traveling with Lynda to Louisiana to meet her mother. Lynda never really spoke about them, but she suddenly decided to go see them.
He didn't object of course, why would he.
He drove with her. He did most of the driving, he loved it. And she was a very wonderful passenger.
Soon, they felt the temperature change. It was hot and humid. Lynda smiled as she looked out the window. All the familiar sights of her childhood.
Strip had never really been to Louisiana, especially not New Orleans. He tapped the wheel as he chuckled to himself.
"It's hot here." He said with a smiled as he put his sunglasses on. "That it is."'she said with a bright smile.
"Turn right at the next light and then my mom's house is right there."
He did just that, and parked. Lynda got out and went over to Strips side. She grabbed his hand. "Also, my mom is a NASCAR fan." she said with a smile.
Strip raised a brow as he smiled. "Were you?"
"Not until recently." She said as she walked up the house steps with him. She was about to knock on the door when it flung open.
"Baby girl!" A woman suddenly pulled Lynda into a tight hug. Lynda just hugged the woman back smiling and laughing. "Mama!"
Strip took a step back letting the two have a moment.
Lynda's mom turned and looked at him. "Young man! I have heard so much about you! And I have seen a lot of you on the television!" She hugged him as well.
Strip was surprised and hugged her back. "My name is Lydia! Come inside!" She pulled the two in.
The two ended up cooking with her, watching TV, watching some races her mother recorded. Lydia was such a lovely woman. Strip enjoyed taking to her. Lynda was just like her.
"How did you even meet my daughter? Last I checked she was dating some rich boy."
Strip glanced at Lynda. Lynda just nodded abit as she sat back and listened. Strip smiled a bit.
"We were friends at first. But she was outside the racing stadium looking lost, and she needed gas for her car so I helped her out." Strip said as he ran his fingers through his hair.
He smiled a bit. "And the rest is history." He smiled a bit.
Lydia just smiled at that. "I'm glad."
Lynda just gazed at Strip as he spoke to her mother. He looked happy and genuinely excited to answer her questions.
Strip slightly caught her gaze. He just kept talking to her mom, but the top of his ears turned red.
Lynda just smiled at that.
After a busy day of talking and helping Lynda's mom around the house. The couple went to walk around the neighborhood.
Lynda had her heels in her hands as she walks barefoot next to him. Strip had his cowboy hat on, and his hands in his pockets as he walked next to her.
"My mom absolutely loves you." She said with a chuckle. Strip just chuckled.
"Thank god. Was scared she wasn't going to like me." He said.
Lynda just laughed. "She wouldn't have hated you. She didn't like Jackson, but she was so excited to meet you." Lynda kept on talking about how her mom was excited.
He just looked at her. Admiration filling his eyes as he gazed at her. Eventually she just looked at him and stopped talking.
"Looking at something you like cowboy?" She tilted her head to the side as she looked at him. Her dreads falling to one side.
He blushed a bit. "Not something I like."
Her expression changed a bit. "Someone, I love." He said as he watched a faint blush go across her face.
"Oh-" she immediately turned her head and started walking ahead of him. He caught up to her and slid his hand into hers. She squeezed his hand tightly as they walked together.
He leaned down and kissed her head. "Love you."
She spun around. "I love you too. Don't forget it."
He was a bit surprised by the aggressiveness "oh? You do?" He teased.
She just pulled him down and kissed him. He held her waist a bit. She took his hat off as she kissed him, and put it on herself.
He blushed more into the kiss. "Give me back my hat." He said as he broke the kiss slightly.
"Nah."
She smirked and ran off back to the house leaving him there. He held his head and just chuckled to himself. "Oh I'm gonna marry her."
The two eventually got ready for bed and eventually got relaxed in a little queen bed Lynda's mom put together.
Lynda was laying down reading a book. Strip was drying his hair as he sat down. She looked at him a bit. "You 'kay?" She asked as she lowered her book.
He nodded as he finished drying his hair. He eventually laid down next to her. "Whatcha reading?" He asked as he put his head on her shoulder.
"Pride and Prejudice." She said as she turned the page. He chuckled a bit. "Of course you like romance."
"Problem with that?" She Said as she turned the page.
"Not at all. But... I would like it if you would read to me." She leaned her head against his and started to read from where she was.
He eventually started to fall asleep, listening to her voice. Eventually he fell asleep against her. She carefully closed her book as she noticed.
She turned towards him and helped him settle down into the bed a bit more. She moved his hair out of his face and laid down in front of him.
She just looked at him as he slept. As she started to get comfortable, he gently pulled her closer. "Night.." he mumbled as he started to fall back asleep. She pulled the blanket over the two of them.
"Night hun."
