It feels different waking up here at home. Mamu and Papai seemed to wake up in a nice mood today, I can hear them laughing from all the way here.
I went down to join them in the veranda.
"Good morning Mamu! Papai!" I said as I round up the door, I think they have other visitors as well.
"What are you guys doing here?" Everyone was there, my roommates, Calix, Claire and Louie.
"We came to visit, I know you'll miss us." Calix said.
"Overconfidence, I may say. But I do miss you guys." I hugged each and everyone of them.
"How was it going lately?" Chloe asked.
"Great, I've been spending a lot of time with Papai and Mamu, they have been educating me about Pelipia. How bout you guys?"
We talked until the evening. We were in our house the whole day just talking about silly things. I'll miss them when I get back to New York.
It turned out that this was all Calix's plan. Claire wanted to go and visit me so he planned to invite the other guys too to visit me. It was such a kind thing to do, I know he knew how hard it has been at camp but I'm glad he didn't ask more about it.
"Hey!" Louie approached me. "It's been a long time since the last time I saw you."
Its been a long time since I saw him, it has been, what?, 2 weeks?. That was the longest time I haven't seen him since we've known each other.
"Yeah, been pretty busy lately, huh?, birthday boy."
"No, I was thinking you're avoiding me."
"Why would I avoid you?"
"You've been very cold to me the last days of camp, so I thought you don't want to see me."
I was just trying to not to get in his way to avoid making more enemies at camp.
"No, no, no.. I may have just been pretty busy as well."
"Well, that's a relief. Mom has been asking me to invite you at home for some get together before you leave."
"No, problem. You could have just called me, and I'll go."
"I'm afraid you won't answer back."
"Of course I will, what are friends for?"
He smiled and scratched his head looking a bit uncomfortable, "Cass?"
"Yeah? What is it?"
"Do you mind if.... Uhm.. if..you..uh.."
"If uhhhh?" I said trying to ease the tension.
He laughed. "Sorry, I was just so nervous."
"Of what? "
"Of.. ah.. I just want to ask if you could be my special guest on my birthday?"
I was shocked that he asked me, I was basically speechless on what to say eventhough I know that all I really want to say is yes.
Louie asked me! He asked me to be his special guestfor his birthday! His much awaited birthday!
"Cass?"
I stumbled to my words." Of course!"
"You know you could say no if you don't want to."
"No, no, its my pleasure. I'm just shocked that you asked me."
"Everyone is expecting me to ask you, even mom. That is why she wanted me to invite you, to give me time to ask."
"Wow, its really an honor."
"Its mine."
"Why are you even worried asking me out? Its not like someone has ever declined being a consort of yours."
"Well actually, this is the first time that I ever asked a girl to be one."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I never reallly like others' company as much as I enjoy yours."
I lowered my head and put my hands over my mouth as I could feel my blood heating up my cheeks.
"Did I make you feel uncomfortable?"
"No, you were the first one to enjoy my company."
"I might be the first one to say it but I'm definitely not the first one to like it." He pointed his hands to the people in our house.
I thought I saw Calix turned his head, looking at us, but when Louie called him, its like he doesn't even know we were there, maybe I'm just hallucinating because of what Louie has just asked me.
"It's been a long day, maybe we should go home?" Calix said.
"Isn't it too late for some of you to go home now?" Mamu said
"Yes, some of you live very far. It might be nice if you could all spend the night here." I added.
"That's a good idea! I don't want to go home yet." Diane said
"Well, I can't stay. I have to take Claire home, my mom would be anxious if she won't go home."
"But I'm a big girl now, Calix! I want to stay."
"Claire, you know mom won't be able to sleep if you are not at home with her."
"He's right Claire, you would never want your mom to be worried right? You could come here again tomorrow or anyday og you want " I said.
"Fine." She went to Calix and took his hand, she looked up to Calix. "You promise you'll bring me back again, okay?"
"Yes, I promise."
"Okay. Let's go."
We all laughed by how fast Claire's mood changed.
"I think I have to go too. I have to go out with dad tomorrow morning." Louie said.
We bade them goodbye.
We stayed at my room before going to sleep. Good thing Mamu is always prepared for a sleep over, she even has some prepared clothes and toiletries, just in case.
"So, guys, Louie asked me to accompany him in his birthday" I just can't take it in anymote.
Everybody shouted for joy.
"Shhhh! Guys. Quiet. I don't want to wake Mamu and Papai."
"When did he ask you?" Chlor asked excitedly. Everyone's faces were focused on me waiting for my answer.
"Just earlier, in the veranda."
"What did you say?"
"Of course I said yes."
"I told you he likes you, he's just waiting for the right time." Margo said.
"He didn't say he likes me, he just asked me to be his consort. It doesn't mean anyhting." I said but deep in my heart I was hoping the same way.
"Oh come on Cass. Don't you see the way he looks at you?" Margo said.
"So that's why Calix's mood changed." Diane said, she noticed it too, I thought I was the only one.
"Oh my gosh, I cant wait to see the two of you together, it would look so cute!" Cielo said, crushing my teddy bear.
"If Calix reacted that way today, how will he be able to handle on the Louie's birthday. Everyone would love to be in your shoes." Rebecca said with her finger tapping her chin.
"But the most important thing is "The Dress", do you have something to wear already?" Margo asked.
"Mamu said she'll take care of it, though I think she might add a few changes when she learns that I'll go with Louie."
"You haven't told her yet?"
"It's not like I have a chance."
"Well, anyway, If Lady Mindy said that she'll take care of it, there will be no doubt it would be gorgeous, just look at her!"
Starting at that point, all they talked about was Mamu and her fashion style, they searched for outfits that Mamu had worn in gatherings and made their thoughts on what my dress would be.
