Barton had to keep himself from screeching into his phone. "Alex, what the—"

"Tell me congratulations, dude, I'm married," Alex interrupted him on the other end. Neither of them bothered to say 'hello' anymore.


Not what he'd expected. He responded with appropriate stunned silence.


"Yeah, we flew to Vegas when we got back, and got married. So eat me. You two are ridiculous. We did you a fucking favor, so be grateful and get over it."


"I guess this means you're moving out?"


Alex scoffed. "No, I figured she'd move in, since you're leaving and all. Seth's taking his 'extended leave of absence' at home in Santa Cruz so we'll have the house to ourselves."


"Just make sure you pay the rent," Barton reminded him monotonically.


"You're a real asshole without that girl, Barton Black. Remember that."


"Well, thanks to the two of you, I have a whole five hours to mull it over in the car tonight."


"Yup. Drive safe," Alex told him. And then he hung up.
