chapter 14

Arlo's POV

Standing in front of the full-body mirror I take in my appearance. I made sure that I wore my glasses today because the guys love it when I wear them, the front stands of my hair touches the tip of them.

I'm wearing Jace's shirt that he let me borrow (little does he know, he will not be getting it back), it's black and has a character design on it. No, I do not know the character. I paired it with my plain old black jeans and white Air forces. Jace has also been trying to get me more into jewellery, so I have on a  silver ring on each hand and a matching plain necklace. My cheeks are rosy where I've been rushing around and got flustered, my skin is tanner from all the time in the garden with Kayden and Finn. 

Xavier's reflection startles me, making him smile. "Matteo's brother is almost here, Matteo wants us all downstairs for when he gets here." He holds his out for mine and once I grasp it he takes us down the the living room.

Kayden notices me first and jumps up immediately. He looks nervous. Not that I can blame him, I would be too if I did what he did.

Well to be honest I am nervous but it's because I've never met the guy. I really don't want to make a bad impression or embarrass Matteo in any way.

"Ah finally, I thought I was going to have to go through this on my own." He wines as he hugs me. His scent drifts up into my nose and brings me comfort like it always does.

Finn snorts. "You wouldn't be alone if he didn't come down because we are all here as well, you idiot." He leans into Aiden, who is lost in his phone with his hand on Finn's thigh.

I can basically feel Kayden roll his eyes. He doesn't move from my arms, instead, he holds me tighter and mumbles into my neck. "You guys just want to see me suffer when Marcel is here. At least I know Arlo will comfort me if I do anything stupid."

He isn't wrong. Honestly, if he embarrasses himself really badly today I will do something stupid too so all the attention isn't on him. I run my fingers through his hair and kiss the crown of his head in a silent way of telling him he's correct.

A knock at the door interrupts the nice moment we had going on making us part from the hug but Kayden makes sure our hands are connected. I give his hand a little squeeze, hoping it will comfort him.

I know his anxiety isn't all because of the fact that he embarrassed himself a couple years ago but also because he gets nervous around people he doesn't know very well. One night me and Kayden had what he called a sleepover and we into deeper topics like my depression and his anxiety and fear of being alone.

Matteo answers the door and when he opens it wide enough I honestly thought I was hallucinating. Marcel looks so much like Matteo it's crazy. However, Finn was right in saying that Matteo is better-looking because he definitely is. The only difference between the two is Matteo has brown eyes while Marcel has light green. Matteo's build is a lot bigger than Marcel's.

"It's good to finally see you Matteo, I'm sorry it's taken me so long."

Matteo shakes his head with a smile and pulls his brother into a tight hug. "Don't apologise, I get it trust me. Life gets busy, it is what it is man. We just need to try and see each other harder because it really has been too long."

Marcel nods his head and then his eyes catch mine. I send him a small smile not trying to be rude. "New guy in the house I see." He walks over to me and I get ready to shake his hand but he surprises me by pulling me into a hug, Kayden however, refuses to let go of my hand so it makes the hug a little awkward. When he steps back he gives me a friendly smile and then he looks over to Kayden and chuckles.

"It's nice to see you again Kayden. How have you been?" His voice is soft but I can tell he's having fun with this as well.

Kayden's hand tightens in mine. "It's good to see you too. I've been okay thank you." His voice is nearly as stiff as his body. The guys snicker and I hold back an eye roll.

He smiles once more before greeting the other guys and then we got comfy in the living room. "So how long are you staying for Marcel?" Xavier says as he sets down the three drinks he brought in from the kitchen.

"Well I'm only here for the night and then I'm house hunting for the week."

Matteo sits up excitement written all over his face. "Really? It's about time you settle down. You searching around here or somewhere else?"

I hate that there's a small part of me that's jealous of their relationship. I've always wanted a sibling but my parents said one kid was enough for them. And I hate to admit that there's a small part of me that resents them for that. I was always alone growing up. My parents were either working all the time or out. Being here is such a huge change for me but the best change possible. I never feel alone, there's always someone around and I couldn't be happier.

Marcel chuckles. "I know, I don't know what it was but it just hit me the other day. I want to settle down, hopefully find someone and you know, start a family. As of right now, I'm only looking at places around here but we will see how that goes."

"Imagine if we were neighbors! That would be so much fun." Finn is basically bouncing up and down on the sofa.

Xavier wraps his arm around Finn pulling him onto his lap. His face is soft and full of love for Finn. "Something tells me that would be very entertaining."

Okay, so I'm guessing Marcel knows about this relationship then.

We all let out a laugh and I look over to Kayden and notice that he's relaxed and finally comfortable around Marcel. I knew he would be okay eventually.

Matteo seems to notice the same thing because a proud look overcomes his face and lifts his hand to place it on his thigh.

I'm so sorry about how late this upload is but my mental health has been kinda shit lately and on top of that my pet died the other day so writing has been the last thing on my mind.

I feel like this chapter started off well but once again things happened so the last bit is not so great as I would like it to be. I just wanted to post something for you❤️
