Chapter 69: Busy Day

(Three hundred and four thousand, six hundred and third Quantic Universe Earth, Paris, France, Tuesday, April 5th, 2016, third person POV...)

In the Dupain-Cheng bakery, Marinette is helping her parents bake macaroons.

Tom carefully uses a wooden peel to move a batch of macaroons out of the oven, as they were finished baking.

Tom says, "We still have a lot of macaroons to bake today, my darlings. This is our biggest order yet!"

Marinette replies, "Yeah, no kidding. It's gonna be worth using my Food Multiplication superpower to multiply the ingredients so we don't have to spend money on groceries or deliveries."

Sabine then comes up and says as well, "Either way, we're fortunate that you're here to help us, sweetie."

Marinette replies, "Don't I know it."

The bakery bell rings, and everyone turns to see Alya walking in.

Alya says, "Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng. Hey, Marinette!"

Alya walks over while Tom and Sabine busy themselves.

Alya states, "So, you'll never guess who I ran into on the way here..."

Marinette guesses, "Adrien."

Alya replies, "Ding ding. He told me he's going to the movie theater this afternoon."

Marinette replies back, "Well, as much as I'd love to accompany him, you know my movie preferences, even if Adrien knows better than to prank me into watching a movie I don't like, and right now, I can't go because my parents and I got a lot of work to do, on such short notice no less."

Alya states in reply, "Not to worry, girl; I got a plan."

Minutes later, Rose and Juleka are making macaroons, thankful that Tom's baking lessons at school helped out a great deal.

Rose remarks, "Everything smells so good! No wonder the client ordered a big amount of macaroons. Right, Juleka?"

Juleka answers to signify that her time with Roarr, the Kwami of Exaltation, has helped her overcome her speech impediment earlier than canon, "Yeah, they're great, Rose!"

Rose then says before asking Tom, "I know! Hey, do you guys think we can make some heart-shaped macaroons? That would be so romantic!"

Tom laughs heartily in response as he explains, "Ha ha ha! Sorry, Rose, but these macaroons all have to look the same for our customer. But never fear, I'll make a special heart-shaped batch for Valentine's Day next year. Besides, Valentine's Day is over for this year, remember?"

Rose replies, "Hehehe, of course! How silly of me!"

Off to the side, Alya remarks, "See, girl? I told you, with Rose and Juleka's help, we'll be finished in no time flat!"

Marinette replies, "Maybe I'll try to have a little more faith in everyone else's respective plans on the fly. Either way, Alya, thanks a lot for your suggestion. I'll make sure to remember it for years to come."

Sabine puts the last two batches of macaroons in their containers on top of the other ones and she says, "That's the last one. We're done!"

Tom remarks, "And it's all thanks to you super girls!"

Marinette remarks, "Hah! Nice Supergirl reference!"

The bakery bell rings once more, and Adrien enters the bakery with Nino.

Adrien remarks, "Hi, everyone!"

Marinette says, "Hey, Adrien!"

Marinette and Adrien briefly kiss each other.

Nino asks Alya, Rose, and Juleka, "What are you all doing here?"

Alya answers as she asks right back, "Helping out three friends in need, and what are you two doing here?"

Nino answers before he asks Marinette, "We wanted to buy something to eat before going to the movies. What do you recommend, Marinette?"

Marinette answers as she unveils some lemon oatmeal raisin cookies, "Try my latest creation, lemon oatmeal raisin cookies. Both delicious and sort of healthy."

Sabine then says, "Listen, girls, as a thank you for helping us today, we'd like to buy you all tickets to go to the movie theater with your friends."

Tom says as he unveils an extra batch of the macaroons he and the girls were baking, "And as for snacks, I'd recommend these delicious macaroons. I heard that they were baked by a group of super girls."

Marinette laughs in response to that.

Adrien replies, "Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng!"

In no time, the assortment of secret superheroes enjoyed the movie, and they returned to their homes to deal with the next things on their schedules.

In Marinette's bedroom, she looks over her Foreknowledge Calendar and says, "Ough, great, here comes The Sapotis."
