Chap 11 (Pushing Forward)

CJ's POV

I went straight home after I was discharged. I walked into my apartment and the place was a mess. "TK?" I called out. "Did we get robbed?"

"Uhm, no," TK poked his head from the closet.

"Are you trying to get back in the closet?" I asked. "Once you're out, that's it."

"No, babe," TK stood up. "I bought you an anniversary gift and I was going to give it to you when you got back."

"Is it another one in the lizard family?" I asked. TK was quiet. "T, we can't keep getting lizards."

"It's not a lizard."

"Then what is it?"

"A dog."

"There's no way you lost a dog."

"It is a teacup pomsky," TK sighed. "I named her Sky because of her eyes."

"You got me a pomsky?" I asked. He nodded. "You're so sweet. Uhm, let's find her together. Did you check under the couch? Or get out some treats?" He looked at me. "What?"

"I got her food," TK replied. "I'm supposed to give her treats too?"

"They're taken care of, just like kids," I nodded. "I think I have a bag of pumpkin puree somewhere." I grabbed it from the pantry and rustled it. A white fur ball came jogging towards me. "Oh, aren't you the cutest thing ever?!" I picked her up. "Oh, you do nave some pretty eyes."

"Happy anniversary, babe," TK smiled.

"I am going to be off the next 6 weeks," I replied. "I can't go back unless a doctor clears me for duty."

"Are you okay?" TK asked. "Is our baby okay?"

"The baby's fine," I nodded. There was a knock on the door. I opened it and the BAU stormed in. "Uhm, come on in, I guess."

"Looks like they beat us here," I stated.

"Who is they?" I asked.

"This isn't 6538 Union?" Emily asked.

"The whole complex is 6538 Union," TK stated. "Do you happen to know the apartment number?"

"Penelope," Emily held up her phone.

"I'm sorry! I freaked when saw it was the first half of CJ's address," Penelope replied. "The apartment number is 401."

"That's all the way on the other side of the building," TK replied.

"Let's go," Emily stated.

"Thanks for nothing," I stated. The team left except for JJ. "Do you need me for this case?"

"If the apartment we're looking for is on the other side of the building, then why is your place look like it got robbed?" JJ asked. "When I saw this, I thought they got her before we could get here."

"TK got me a puppy for an anniversary gift, and he thought he lost her," I replied. "That's why our apartment looks like it got robbed. He trashed the whole apartment looking for her and it turns out, she was under the couch." I looked at TK. "Probably scared to death as to why her new father was trashing the place."

"But you're okay, right?" JJ asked.

"TK would never hurt me," I rolled my eyes. JJ nodded and left. "The nerve of some people."

"Why did she try to paint me as the bad guy?" TK asked. "She barely knows me."

"She thinks Jay and I should've stayed together," I replied, cleaning up. "But I love you. He lost his chance."
