That night you dreamed of Loki, and what it would have felt like to have him actually kiss you when you had asked him to. There was none of this back and forth, or waiting for him to finally make a move. He had actually done it in your dreams, and it was glorious. The only problem was, it wasn't real. By the time you woke up, you were just disappointed and embarrassed again.
Gabby came waltzing into your bedroom at six, wearing one of her Shield uniforms and already had her makeup and on her hair up perfectly.
"I can't sleep in, and I don't want to go to do my ballet because today is moving day" she said as she jumped on your bed beside you. "I already dug your clothes out," she added.
"Thank you" you yawned. "Five more minutes" you turned and burrowed under the comforter more.
"No, you need to get up and start talking," she gave you some sass.
"I asked him to kiss me. He kept talking about wanting to do it, and he shut me down. Then he went to do it and I put the door between us" you gave her the cliff's notes.
"I'm going to bite him," she said decisively.
"You can't fix all of our problems by biting people" you rolled your eyes.
"It would teach him a lesson," she argued.
"You're not biting the god of mischief" you giggled.
"This isn't something to be mischievous about" she growled. "You don't line it up for a woman to think you want to kiss her and shut her down."
"I was expecting too much," you sighed.
"Or not enough. If he wants you, he's going to have to work a lot harder than that" she said decisively. "Cancel the date" she instructed.
"Gabby..." you sighed.
"Trust me on this one," she said. "Can you do that?" she asked, giving you her best doe look.
"Cuddle me and I'll think about it" you relented. She giggled and turned into a fox and jumped under the covers with you. Willow wagged her tail and tried to put her body between the two of you. You grabbed your phone and turned on some music, and just laid there with your two girls for a bit.

A knock came at the door after half an hour and you got out of bed finally only to have Gabby change her form back to a human and she was trying to change back into her clothes hurriedly. You didn't bother looking through the peephole and just opened the door to see Natasha in her leotard and wearing her ballet shoes, and Clint beside her. Both of them had their arms crossed.
"Where's Gabby?" Nat asked you.
"Why aren't you on the track?" Clint asked at the same time.
"Let's try this again. Good morning" you said in response, still feeling grumpy.
"Morning" they both said at the same time.
"Coming!" Gabby came around the corner fully dressed.
"Are you skipping practice this morning?" Nat looked around you at her.
"It's moving day. All of our things are packed" Gabby said as though that was common knowledge. "Fury did it while we were on a mission," she added.
"And what's your excuse?" Clint asked you directly.
"Rough night" you flushed and he started coming forward. You opened the door the rest of the way for the two of them and they came in. Gabby grabbed your clothes and tossed them to you, and you went into your bedroom to change while Nat and Clint took the couch.
"That's it for boxes?" Nat asked, looking at your two lives packed up in the back of the living room.
"Fury mainly packed our toiletries and clothes. He wants us to still have our space here" Gabby explained while Willow jumped up on the couch between the pair. Clint immediately went to scratch Willow between the ears and she was hamming it up. "Some of our personal items are staying, and some of them are coming," she consented to also advise.
"Like our books" you called out and she nodded.
"Do you two read a lot?" Nat seemed intrigued.
"All the time" Gabby confirmed.
"We will have to start you both a new library at the compound. You won't be here as much as you think you will" Clint suggested.
"Maybe" Gabby sighed and put on her combat boots. "Natasha, would you care for an early breakfast?" she asked.
"Sure, I'll go change. My husband is probably still asleep anyway" she said with a chuckle.
"Take your time" Gabby waved to her as she got up. She nodded and walked out, and Gabby turned her attention to where your room was off the hallway. You came out a few minutes later without any makeup on, and your hair up in a strict bun wearing your black uniform and combat boots.
"You ready?" Clint asked, standing up.
"Gabby said breakfast, we always go together" you blushed.
"Natasha is going to be a few minutes, take Willow out with Clint" Gabby waved you off. "I'll wait for you in the cafeteria" she advised.
"I won't be long" you promised. Clint nodded to Gabby and led you back out of your apartment. The two of you walked in companionable silence down the hallways until you got outside and Clint did a large stretch just outside the door.
"What made you come get me?" you finally asked him.
"Well, I'm used to seeing you in the mornings and since we are on the same team now, I was worried," he said simply.
"Worried about me?" you asked at the foreign notion.
"Yeah. You see, to me the team is like family. We take care of each other, and if one of us isn't okay then the rest of us need to step up to help make things better" he explained as the two of you went onto the track. There were the usual Shield agents running around the track, along with Steve, Bucky and Sam.
"Things are changing so quickly," you sighed.
"Change can be good, kid" he put his arm over your shoulders and you looked at him from under your eyelashes. He reminded you of a father, not that you ever really had one. You had been an orphan that had never left the orphanage. Your big break in life had been the study grant you received to go to Paris. No one seemed to notice when you went missing. Gabby had at least been looked for, but she never went back to her family. You knew deep down she was scared of AIM finding them, or them judging her for her life choices she had made now. Your time in AIM had changed you both, and there was no going back from that. Besides the abilities, there was a mental change as well. You had been set up in cells close together, and had learned to rely on one another for moral support through all of the experiments and torture you had endured.
"Sometimes it isn't" you found yourself saying in a small voice and he looked at you curiously, but didn't push the issue.
"So tell me why you have a frown on your face" he tried to change the subject.
"I'm not frowning" you pouted.
"You couldn't pull your ass outta bed to take care of your dog, and I haven't seen you smile once this morning. You at least normally smile a little" he probed.
"I read too much into something, and got hurt," you said simply. "I won't make that mistake again" you vowed.
"Does it have to do with Loki?" he asked, hitting the nail on the head.
"Maybe" you blushed.
"He doesn't usually go out of his way for us Midgardians" he advised. "We all have too short of a lifespan for him and he's scared to get attached" he explained. "Doesn't seem like he's sticking to that rule as much anymore though" he grinned.
"What do you mean?" you asked.
"Well, I've never seen him exercise. Look up kid" he pointed and you saw Thor and Loki running on the track in front of you. "Must be something to do with a pretty girl that can wield ice" he chuckled.
"I don't know what you're talking about" you cleared your throat and held your head high. Loki stopped to look at you, and you looked away, still feeling hurt from last night. "Come on Clint, we need to get to breakfast" you started rushing him.

"Kitten" Loki called to you, slowing down and coming over.
"Loki" you barely acknowledged him.
"We need to talk privately," he said, stopping in front of you.
"We have nothing to discuss" you said, refusing to look him in the eye.
"We have plenty to discuss," he huffed slightly. "I do believe you did not give me the chance last night..." he started to say and you looked up at him with tears in your eyes and he looked taken aback. "Darling," he said, reaching out to touch you and you slapped his hand away. "Very well, I'll go into your mind" he said with firm determination.
"Don't you dare!" you gasped.
"Then allow me a moment to speak," he said with a sigh.
"I'll be right over here with Thor" Clint took your silence as a sign and he walked over to where Thor was waiting for his brother.
"I only care to do this right with you" Loki said, a slight flush on his cheeks. "I realize I have hurt you, but I am trying to be mindful of Midgardian traditions" he reached out and touched your cheek. A tear touched his fingers and he wiped all of your tears away. "I wish to woo you properly."
"I don't understand. Your words say one thing, but your actions speak another" you sniffed, trying to hold back more tears. "Actions speak louder than words in my book" you added.
"When we go on our date on Saturday" he started to say.
"Saturday is off. I'm not going on a date with you" you said, remembering it was what Gabby suggested. He looked pained at your words, and you weren't sure how to feel about that. Gabby had a tendency to get more dates than you did, so you had to trust her judgment.
"Saturday is not off. I will be at your quarters, and regardless of your attire, I shall be taking you on a date. How you go on it is up to you" he said, his tone clipped.
"I have the right to decline" you defied him. He tipped your face up towards him and he leaned down and pressed a kiss right beside your lips, hesitating a moment and making sure you could feel the heat of his skin on your own.
"Our date for Saturday is on Kitten" he took a step back. You bristled and wanted to say something in defiance but you were in too much shock.
"Okay, I think she's had enough, Loki" Clint came back, taking in your red face and shock.
"I trust I've made myself clear" Loki nodded and walked back to Thor.
"Are you starting mischief again brother?" Thor asked, sounding upset.
"Not at all," Loki shook his head. "Let's get ready for breakfast," he said quickly.
