Chapter 41

"Darling" Loki came into your reading room looking troubled.
"Hello, my love" you cooed to him.
"It's breakfast time" he reminded you.
"Alright" you nodded and put your book down. "What was it Thor needed?" you asked while standing up. Kitty clawed at your legs to be picked up, and Willow was already primed and ready to go to eat.
"Thor and I have been called to Asgard for a few days. In midgard, that could be a few weeks. I want to ask you to come with me" he stopped you from walking past him, and held you by the shoulders.
"Is it for your princely duties?" you asked him, honestly curious.
"Yes" he bit out, already knowing your answer.
"No Loki, I won't go with you. I'll come meet your parents when we are ready. Not bombard them suddenly" you placed a hand on his chest and you could feel his heart beating. "When do you leave?" you asked in a whisper.
"After breakfast" he looked down.
"My feelings for you will remain the same. You'll be back before you know it" you touched him on his cheek and kissed his lips softly.
"My feelings shall always remain the same. I live because you breathe" he said passionately.
"It's only a few days," you giggled.
"It's already too long," he said dramatically.
"It will give me time to decorate" you wiggled your eyebrows at him. "I was going to go with pink, but I suppose green is a good color too" you hinted at something more with him.
"I'll sit in a pink tutu should you ask for it" he started kissing your cheeks in feather light touches. You couldn't help but giggle at the mental image.
"No, I won't ask you to put on a tutu," you giggled.
"And yet, you enjoyed the thought" he chuckled deep in his throat, and kissed you softly on the lips.
"Who wouldn't?" you kissed him back again for good measure. You finally gave in and picked up Kitty who meowed happily and started to purr, being held in your arms between the two of you.
"I need to change into my Asgardian clothes, but I shall meet you downstairs in no time" he gave you another feather light kiss on the lips.
"I'll be there" you smiled, trying to hold back your worry for later. You led the way out with Willow in front of you, and Loki behind you. You paused at his door, and his arms went around your center and he held you close for a moment.
"I'll make it as brief as possible" he whispered.
"I'll hold you to that" you gave a soft sigh. You went to move again when he stopped you with his hand splayed across your lower stomach.
"Hold on but a moment," he said. "Be safe for me," he said after a brief hesitation.
"I'll be fine" you giggled and he flexed his hand. "Go get ready, Kitty and Willow want their breakfast" you reminded him.
"Very well," he said, finally letting go. "Minx," he said under his breath.
"King of my heart" you giggled and started walking away. You heard him take an intake of breath and you looked over your shoulder to give him a smile and a wink. "I'll meet you downstairs" you smiled and walked away, trying not to think about him leaving for a few weeks. You would save the realization and melancholy for later when he couldn't read your mind.

"Good morning!" Wanda almost sang as you came into the room where the table was nearly full. Thor was already ready to go, and had his hammer on the floor beside him.
"Good morning" you said in an upbeat tone.
"Are you going with them?" Gabby asked the moment you sat down.
"No, I'm staying here" you shook your head. "I'm needed here" you assured her and she gave you a hug, as though she was worried you were going to change your mind and leave.
"I'm sorry you will not be joining us" Thor said softly.
"It's for your princely duties. When and if I meet your parents, it will be on Loki and I's terms, and when we are ready for that step" you gave a kind smile.
"Glad we still have you" Tony looked relieved.
"Of course Tony" you nodded.
"Steve and I have a meeting with Nick via video call this morning. We should know what the game plan is more after that" he advised you and you nodded again.
"What about us? Can we go home to our families?" Clint asked, looking weary

"We will know more after the meeting," Steve sighed, looking weary. "We need to make sure that we are all on the same page," he added.
"It's only Gabby and Y/N in trouble, as long as we hide them, they should be safe" Peter offered.
"We are not hiding" you and Gabby said at the same time.
"I'd rather attack first," Gabby added.
"I'm always with her," you nodded.
"It's not up to you two" Steve reminded you both. "Orders first," he said firmly. An uncomfortable silence went around the table, and Loki came in and he took a seat beside you.
"For once the tension is not my doing" he commented.
"No, we are waiting for orders" Gabby bit out and Bucky put his arm around her shoulders.
"You guys need to eat" Pepper sighed, reminding everyone and she started sending the platters of food around the table. You took enough to do you until lunch, and passed on to Loki who added extra portions to your plate and kissed your cheek to ease your mood a little. You all ate in silence with the impending goodbye from your resident princes, which you were not looking forward to.
"Do you still have your coin darling?" Loki asked casually, and Thor looked over with interest.
"Yes, why?" you asked him.
"Can you keep it on you, and if you are ever in trouble go to an open area and call for Heimdall. It is your safe passage to Asgard" he explained.
"What if I just miss you?" you asked him.
"An even better reason" he smiled.
"Heimdall will be keeping an eye on you and Jane," Thor added softly. "He will alert us if there is any trouble" he gave a soft smile.
"He's all seeing, isn't he?" you asked, and Loki nodded. You blushed realizing what all that he's likely seen then and Wanda giggled.
"He turns away when it's important," Loki said with a slight pink on his cheeks.
"I should hope so" you murmured.

Everyone said their goodbyes to both Loki and Thor, but you followed them outside with Gabby and Bucky behind you. They went to an empty part of the tarmac and stopped. You ran to Loki and threw your arms around him and nuzzled in.
"I'm going to miss you" you proclaimed.
"As I will miss you, with every beat of my heart" he added.
"Be safe, okay?" you asked for reassurance.
"Only because I am coming home to you. Be safe for me, try to stay off of missions" he said, looking down at your midriff again.
"I think it's part of the job that I go on them," you giggled.
"Humor me" he implored.
"I'll try not to volunteer," you promised.
"Minx" he chuckled, knowing that wasn't a promise.
"King" you murmured.
"I do love you" he pulled you into a position where he could kiss you properly. You melted into him as his tongue explored your mouth. He was kissing you with so much fervor you wanted it to never end. "I'll come back to you as soon as I can" he promised as he pulled back from the kiss.
"And not a moment later" you giggled.
"Why do you call him king?" Thor finally asked.
"He is the ruler of my heart" you said sweetly and he nodded while Loki had a soft glow on his cheeks again. "My personal King" you added as you gave Loki a kiss on the cheek with flourish. "Now go, before I ask you to ravish me one more time before you get on the road" you took a few steps back and Loki's eyes darkened with promise.
"We can be late" he started to move toward you.
"Loki," Thor said with a warning.
"Fine" he huffed.
"Be safe!" Bucky waved to them.
"I'll miss you!" you cooed.
"Don't be gone too long, or else I'll put her on Tinder" Gabby teased. Loki looked alarmed but Thor grabbed his hand and lifted his hammer.
"Heimdall! The bifrost please" he called and they were suddenly encompassed in a rainbow light and it only lasted about ten seconds before it was gone and they were gone. You looked at the ground and saw there was an odd design that looked pretty to you.
"Just kidding about the Tinder" Gabby told you softly as you finally let it hit you he was gone. You went to Gabby and she hugged you tightly and Bucky wrapped his arms around both of you for a moment.
"He'll come back," you said, reassuring yourself.
"And you'll be waiting," Gabby added softly.
"Come on ladies, let's get you inside with some hot chocolate and a good book" Bucky seemed to be taking it on himself that he would be not just Gabby's protector, but yours as well for now.
"That actually sounds nice" you said approvingly and followed both their lead, looking back just the once to see if Loki would reappear, but he didn't.
