Chapter 36

"What's this?" Pietro asked with amusement as you walked into the dining room with Kitty on your shoulder standing proudly and meowing as though he was fierce.
"Kitty! Isn't he charming?" you asked with pride in your voice. All eyes went to Loki who smirked in amusement. You started petting him and he purred loudly in response. "Loki adopted him for us" you added with a broad smile and Loki puffed out his chest seeming proud of himself.
"Oh, he's lovely," Wanda cooed. "He looks like a smaller version of Loki when he takes his cat form" she said and paused for a moment. Once she saw he wasn't frowning, and you were still smiling she smiled at you. "I'm glad he came clean," she added.
"I did love the purrs at night" you giggled.
"Wait, he was the big kitty?" Gabby demanded.
"Yes," Bucky said with a note of hesitancy.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" she demanded.
"Loki can be vindictive, and they were happy. None of us saw the harm" Thor said softly. "I did urge my brother to tell the truth, and he did when he was ready" he gave a smile.
"I wasn't bothered by it Gabby, it made the nightmares more tolerable when I slept with Kitty" you admitted. "Even more so now that I sleep with Loki in his human form" you added happily.
"He's so cute!" Nat cooed.

"I know, I'm already in love with him," you sighed happily. "Loki really surprised me with Kitty" you admitted softly.
"Put him up with Alpine," Bucky suggested, pointing at the small coffee table with a cat food dish.
"I'll go get him another dish" Loki said quickly and went into the kitchen, coming out a few moments later with a gold colored saucer with wet food on it. You rolled your eyes at how extra he was being but set down Kitty who purred at Loki's offerings and started eating. You went and took a seat once he was settled, and Loki ran around to sit beside you. "My darling, did you forget something?" he asked innocently as food was being passed around.
"No, I don't think so" you looked at him confused.
"I believe you did" he said leaning in, and he kissed you softly on the lips. "Yes, that was it. Perfect" he chuckled. You giggled and leaned into him as you started feeding yourself, before handing him the platter of food. He paused for a moment and put an extra egg on your plate before he took food for himself.

"Are you ready for your mission tonight?" Clint asked both you and Loki. Loki nodded and you smiled.
"Of course! I'm always up for kicking some Hydra or Aim ass" you giggled.

"Not without me" Scott reminded you and you giggled. "I got the snacks tonight" he added with a conspiratorial wink.

"You guys get snacks?" Gabby asked in surprise.
"Well, we have them after the mission is over. Clint started it by bringing granola bars. It just kind of evolved from there" you giggled.

"Tomorrow I shall bring them with my brother. We know how to feast" Thor announced.
"I want snacks," Gabby frowned.
"We will bring some snacks, baby" Bucky promised her and she beamed.

"I guess I should probably start stocking the jets with snacks for both shifts" Tony sighed, as though it never occurred to him before. "You girls are already starting to make changes around here.

After breakfast you went back up to your suite to review the new mission data that you had to follow for the next couple of days, while Kitty and Willow played. You and Loki took a few breaks to take Willow out for walks, but mainly stayed in your suite. You both ended up falling asleep together after lunch on the couch. When you woke up Loki had to rush to his suite to get changed and showered, while you showered and got changed into your catsuit. Supper was rushed, and the day team wasn't back yet. You sent Gabby a text saying you were leaving and you hoped she was doing well. You didn't hear back from her by the time you were in the jet, but you figured you would later.

"I brought the contraband" Scott announced after you could move around the jet again. He had brought onto the jet a massive piece of luggage that for the life of you, you couldn't imagine what weapons he would need that would take up an entire suitcase. He usually didn't use any.
"What contraband?" you asked in confusion since you were almost at your destination, and you had been cuddling Loki who was happily soaking it all in.
"Strawberries. Four packs of them" Scott wiggled his eyebrows.
"Oh now I know you spoiled me!" you giggled excitedly.
"Gotta keep the team fed" he puffed out his chest proudly. "And Loki's girl happy" he added with a chuckle.
"Alright kids, back in your seats. Looks like there's only one spot to land" Clint called back after a while. Everyone strapped back in and he went for a landing. You were in the woods again, and he had the cloaking system still on. He landed in a small field, and you all got up. Loki and Thor took point heading out with you and Scott in the middle, and Clint bringing up the rear. You had your guns in your holsters and you hoped that you wouldn't have to use them tonight. A sense of foreboding washed over you. Things had been going so well lately, you were worried that it wasn't going to continue.

When you had the base in your sights you went into hiding, much like the rest of the team did and you all turned on your comms.
"Looks like less security on the outside," Clint said from his position in the tree.
"That doesn't mean there's not any on the inside" Scott hummed to himself. "I'm going to go take a peek" he said, hitting his suit.
"Try not to get squished," you teased him.
"Oh ha ha, very funny" Scott chuckled good naturedly. "Don't touch my portion of the strawberries" he warned you before he left.
Loki and Thor seemed to be interested in the base itself, looking it over and counting all of the guards and exits, doing a full review of the base from each side. While they were gone, and Scott had you on radio silence, you climbed up the tree beside Clint and took a perch on one of the branches. Clint silently just handed you a piece of gum and you accepted it with a soft thanks and a smile.
"There's a lot of people in here" Scott finally said through comms. "All the computers are in use" he added with a frown in his voice. "I think I've been compromised" he said with a yelp and your feet were ahead of your brain.
"Wait!" Clint said as you dashed towards the base using your ice abilities to take out the three guards out front.
"Darling?" Loki's voice came on comms, he sounded confused.
"She's in the base," Clint said with a resigned sigh as you ran through the door.
When you got in you were faced with four more armed guards and you froze them to the spot and ran past them. Adrenaline was pumping through your veins as you went through the base freezing each person as you saw them. You heard a few grunts from Scott over comms, but he wasn't saying anything.
"Where are you?!" you demanded.
"Basement" Scott said back after a moment. You changed your direction as you heard Thor and Loki's battle cries coming from the back door. You ran like your life depended on it. Scott is your teammate, and you were starting to think of him as a good friend as well. You couldn't bear the thought of him in danger.
You hit the bottom of the stairs and before you could react you felt something piece your collarbone and you hit the wall with a cry out. Blood spayed the wall behind you as a bullet lodged itself into the concrete.
"It's a trap!" Scott finally yelled, but all you saw was red. You used your adrenaline rush to start storming the base, using your abilities with your non-dominant hand since the bullet wound took out your dominant arm. You froze as many agents coming at you as you could before you felt another bullet go through your upper thigh and you fell. You encased yourself in a shield of ice and screamed out in pain. You heard Loki's yell, and could almost feel him as he entered into the hallway with you. It got quiet, before you started hearing bodies hit the floor.
"Darling?" Loki said with weariness from outside your ice shield.
"You need to help Scott" you said a little weakly.
"I've got him brother" Thor's voice came into the room. You released your ice shield and Loki was crouched over you with a worried expression that turned murderous when he saw the blood you were losing.
"Clint, you need to come in and get the data" you said weakly.
"I'm on my way," Clint said back.
"My darling, we need to treat your wounds" Loki said, putting his hands on each of your wounds.
"I'm fine" you lied, your body feeling like it was hit by a truck.
"I'm going to pick you up, and we are going to call in Shield to come get the prisoners" Loki said softly, tearing off parts of his cloak to make a tourniquet for the wound on your leg, and something to help stop the bleeding on your collarbone. You cried out in pain, and that seemed to pain him as well.
"Thor, I'm taking her to mother" Loki said firmly.
"How bad is it?" Clint was suddenly there looking you over. "She's just going to need the regeneration machine, Doctor Cho can fix this up in a jiffy," Clint promised. "I'll get the data, you get her to the jet, and keep pressure on the wounds" Clint sighed, seeing that Loki didn't want to hear it.
You could hear grunts and cries through comms as Loki picked you up and you cried out in pain. He hastily made his way back out of the building and towards the jet again, while being careful not to jostle you. You tried to hold back tears from pain, but you couldn't help it.
"Don't you dare make your goodbye rose again" Loki warned you. "Valhalla cannot keep you from me" he said with authority and pushed himself to rush even more. It was like he was reading your mind before you could even focus your abilities to do so.
