Chapter 15

At lunch you found yourself in a similar position as you had been at the cafeteria, only this time the food was in the center of the table and there was plenty to go around. You were seated between Gabby and Loki again, who had the audacity to bring his chair up closer to you. It seems he isn't letting this go. He had claimed you as his own, and he was following through with it.
Willow was very pleased with her new home however. She had her food and water dish in your room, but in the dining room she had wet food and water. There was also a small cat of Bucky's named Alpine that ate his wet food on an elevated surface. Bucky was more than happy to tell Gabby all about how Alpine is his service cat that helps him with his nightmares etc. Gabby seemed to be holding onto every word he said, which made you secretly smile. You were ecstatic to see her so happy.
When lunch was over the table was cleaned off and Tony told the two of you to stay. You were a little confused before he set down the contracts in front of each of you with flourish. You looked at the stack of papers and you read each page carefully before initialing at the bottom. It took over an hour, but you did manage to get through it all. Both of you signed them. It was similar to the Shield contract you had worked, where everything in the compound was all inclusive. There was a higher pay, and an expectation to go to public events where necessary and to dress appropriately for them. You had to add getting new clothes to your list of things to get, although you planned on ordering them online instead. A large portion of your wardrobe currently consists of Shield uniforms that you supposed you wouldn't have to wear anymore. Wearing the all black outfit was like second nature now, and the only time you deviated from that is when you were going to bed or going out. Even now, you were in a Shield uniform, as is Gabby.
"You're free until Monday" Tony said after taking the signed contracts. "Here are your new phones" he took two sleek phones in secure cases out of his back pocket. "You just need to transfer over your SIM card. The entire team will be on your contacts list, and you can transfer over your data. I'm almost done making your laptops, I'll stop by and give them to you tomorrow. If you need anything, ask Friday, she's enabled throughout the compound. If you need me, just text me" Tony seemed pleased with himself.
"Wait, is there a doggy daycare around here?" you asked, wanting to know for Willow.
"Clara will be taking care of Willow when everyone's gone," Tony said without hesitation. "The team is like a family here, as you'll come to know. We will all chip in to help take care of Willow, just like we do with Alpine" he smiled kindly. "I can't wait for you two to meet Pepper and Happy when they get home" he said with a grin.
"We are headed out for a bit," Gabby advised.
"We need stuff for our rooms" you agreed quickly, both of you on the same wavelength.
"Feel free to take the car" Tony nodded and walked away.
"Kitten" Loki came around the corner with a sparkle in his eyes. "Did I hear you say you were leaving the compound?" he asked with Bucky right behind him.
"Possibly" you narrowed your eyes at him.
"We were just talking about running to the mall" Bucky gave a bright smile and Gabby blushed. You knew then and there she was going to invite them to come. "Mind if we tag along?"
"Sure," Gabby said breathlessly, and then caught herself and looked at you imploringly.
"Yes, sure," you nodded with a strained smile.
"Wait, we are mad at you," Gabby said, looking at Loki.
"I shall be on my best behavior" he promised, raising his hands up.
"I just need to run Willow up to my bedroom," you said, taking a step away.
"I'll join you. I need to grab my wallet, and my room is next to yours" Loki offered his arm to you and you declined, stepping away from him.
"I'll grab your purse" you told Gabby and hurried away with Loki on your heels and Willow by your side.
"Oh, is this Willow?" Clara asked as you got to the large staircase.
"Yes" you nodded. Clara held out her hand to her and Willow went to her immediately. She looked over the moon with her. "I was just about to step out..." you started to say.
"Then she's all mine until you get back, yes she is" she cooed to Willow and you were unsure of how to respond. "Do you need to go for a walk darling girl?" she asked Willow who barked. "I already bought a leash when I heard you were coming" she stood up, leaving her desk behind. Just like that Willow was out the front door in a flash with Clara and you felt a little relieved that she looked so over the moon with your princess.
"Darling?" Loki brought you back to the present.
"Purse" you reminded yourself and you started going up the stairs as fast as you could. Loki easily kept up with you and you had to catch your breath at the top of the stairs. You huffed as you walked down the hallway and as you started to walk past Loki's room, almost at your own door Loki snagged the back of your black polo and you fell back but he caught you easily in his arms. "What the fuck?" you said automatically, and he dipped you back and he kissed you beside your lips again, holding you tight to his body. HIs lips were soft against your skin, and you noted he was getting closer and closer to your lips. The tip of his tongue snaked out and licked your skin and you felt like you were getting turned on by something so odd.
"Language darling kitten" Loki said, looking down at you with hooded eyes. "Have we made up yet, or are we still fighting?" he asked, a purr in his tone.
"We are still fighting," you said, a little flustered. He dipped his head down and left a kiss on either one of your cheeks before setting you on your feet again.
"Your skin tastes like peaches, sweet and soft" he said with a small chuckle as you gaped at him. "I cannot wait for the chance to taste your lips. All good things do come to those who wait" he added with a wink.
"You had your chance," you reminded him.
"An opportunity I shall not waste again" he said with a spark in his eyes. "Go get your belongings. I shall be beside you for the rest of the day" he added with promise. You let that remark go and started wondering how you would be able to lose him in the mall, however you were fairly confident there was no way you could. He was like a bloodhound, and had his mind made up.
You went into your room first and grabbed your purse before going across the hall to Gabby's place and you found her purse on her bed. You came back out and Loki was waiting patiently by his door. You went to walk past him, and he grabbed your hand, pulling you back. You tried to take your hand away, but he refused to give it. You finally gave it and let him have it. He led the way to the stairs and slowly descended the steps. Bucky and Gabby were standing at the bottom of the stairs with Bucky holding car keys.
"And where are our passenger princesses headed first?" Bucky asked, mostly asking Gabby.
"Starbucks" she said with a giggle and he offered his arm, leading her into the garage. Loki quickly led the way, refusing to let go of your hand. When you got to the SUV he opened the door and you got in. He was quick to put the seatbelt on you and he placed another soft kiss on your cheek. You blushed and tried to pretend to be mad about it. He went around to the other side of the back seat and got in beside you and put on his own seatbelt. You handed Gabby her purse and then Loki grabbed your hand again, holding it between the two of you. You took out your phone and checked the time before setting it down.

Bucky ended up buying everyone's drinks, regardless of the protests from you and Gabby. He said it was nothing, and refused to take payment for it, or let either one of you pay. The only one that remained silent was Loki after saying a soft thank you. Bucky drove the four of you to the mall, and had found prime parking so luck was on your side.
"Stay there" Loki commanded as soon as the car turned off. He got out and came around to you and opened the door and reached in to unbuckle your seatbelt. You saw Bucky had done the same thing to Gabby. You didn't know what to make of it, but Loki didn't give you much time to think about it as you got out of the SUV. You secured your purse and your drink and Loki offered his arm again. When you went to refuse it, he closed the car door and just reached for your hand again and took it in an almost dominating way. You knew you could say you hated it if you really wanted to, and you kind of did want to. But at the end of the day he still gave you butterflies unlike anyone else, and except for shutting you down about a kiss, he has been nothing but a gentleman. You wondered if he really is going to stick to the first date kiss rule instead. He seemed to be trying to give you wanted, just not quite. The kisses he was giving you were not quite hitting the mark of what you wanted, what you truly craved.
When you got to the mall doors, Loki still held your hand as he opened the door for you and waited for you to go in first before Bucky grabbed the door from behind him and he held the door open for Gabby.
"Meet back in an hour?" Gabby asked you once you were inside the mall. It was busy, and you both knew you wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. What you really wanted to do was go to the bookstore, and start filling your room with new reads.
"I'm just headed to the bookstore, and the clothing store" you nodded.
"I'll meet you at the bookstore," Gabby giggled and put her arm through Buckys and the two of them walked away. Loki held your hand and pulled you close.
"Where to now, kitten?" he asked, a purr on his lips.
"Rose!" you heard someone exclaim from behind you and you let go of Loki's hand in surprise and turned around to see Eric, one of the were's you used to work with before he went back to his pack.
"Eric!" you said in surprise and he came over and went to give you a hug, but then thought better of it and stood back.
"You look great!" he said with a large smile on his face. "How's work?" he asked quickly.
"I just transferred out today, but it's been good. We missed your handsome face around the halls" you giggled.
"I'm sure they will be lost without you" he seemed surprised.
"They'll be fine" you giggled. "I'm already lost without them," you admitted. You felt a hand slip into your own again and you looked at Loki who seemed to be waiting for an introduction. "Oh, sorry. Eric, this is Loki. Loki, this is Eric" you introduced.
"Charmed" Loki said with a tight smile.
"How is it back home?" you asked quickly.
"Everyone was pretty surprised to see me come back alive, that's for sure. But it's been good. I've been trying to keep in contact with everyone at Shield. My pack needs me for a little longer though" he said with a slight frown. "Fury said I could come back anytime, and I plan to come back. It's just... pack is pack" he said with a sigh.
"I get it, believe me. I'm happy for you. It's really good to see you" you smiled at him.
"It's good to see you Rose, real good to see you. I hope you still end up working with Shield. I hope we talk again soon" Eric waved, and you waved back before walking away. Loki pulled you close to his body and he kissed your temple, looking over his shoulder at Eric as though he was staking his claim on you.
"What are you doing?" you asked in a whisper.
"Letting him know what's mine" Loki said simply and you blushed again.
"I'm not yours" you said in a hushed voice.
"Not yet" he said lightly and led you to the first clothing store he saw. You pulled back and led him to the one that you wanted, and he seemed more than happy to let you lead the way.
