"Monroe and Kendall just left. Just letting you know." Darren says as he drops beside me in the leather couch. Handing me a glass of water.
"Oh, um thanks. They were my ride..." I say, kinda upset that they forgot me here. I understand though, they need their privacy I guess.
"Don't worry about that, I'll take you home when your ready." Darren says. I turn towards him, trying to figure out what's going on.
"You remember me right?" I ask, not knowing the answer. I wring my hands in my lap, nervous about his response. If he says no, then I'll just look like a fool.
"Of course I do. That was one of the best weeks of my life." Darren says. I smile up at him. His response brings all the questions that I've been lying in bed asking myself.
"Why didn't you show up?" I ask. Hurt filling my voice. Sadness fills his eyes, he drops his head into his hands.
"An issue arose at one of my other businesses that I had to handle right away. I know that I should have told you, but I was scared, I guess." He whispers. Looking towards him.
"I showed up everyday." I whisper, looking away from him.
"You shouldn't have, I'm not worth you pain." He says, I whip my head towards him.
"I thought you were. You were the one person who kept me hopeful..." I stop myself from saying too much. Not wanting his view of me to change.
"I wasn't. I tried to fix everything and get back to you, when it was done it was already a week after you started school." He said, sincerity filling his words.
"You wanted to go back for me?" I ask, turning towards him again. Hope filling my body. Maybe he felt the same way that I did.
"I lay awake every night thinking about you. How your smile causes dimples on your right cheek." He whip sees. Lifting his hand and running it along my cheek. His eyes following his hand. My cheeks feel warm from his touch, I lean into it. "About how your hair reflects the sun." His hand rises so it's brushing softly through my hair. I close my eyes with a sigh. "How your eyes looked at me, you trusted me so much."
I open my eyes to find his lips pulled down with a frown.
"I still trust you." I whisper. His eyes are wide with shock, his lips falling apart softly. Pants of air leaving his lips.
"Really?" He asks, dropping his hands to my own. Grabbing them, playing absently with my fingers. I nod my head, looking away from embarrassment.
He clears his throat, he stands up. Pulling me up along with him.
"Let's get you home" he says with a whisper, I nod my head silently. Not meeting his eyes.
His finger tips up my head, forcing me to. "Don't be nervous around me." He whispered. Slowly dropping his hand to his side once again.
"Okay." I whisper. He smiles brightly. He then tugs my hand, signaling for me to start walking. We walk down the stairs, every few moments he'd look back at me with a small smile.
My headache returns as soon as we enter the bottom level. I see the people who sat with Darren earlier dancing on the dance floor. Everybody parts for Darren as we make our way towards the door. Once outside a relieved sigh leaves my lips.
"I know, it gets a bit much after a while" Darren says, understanding filling his voice.
"I've just had a bad headache for the last two days." I say, blushing seeing as Darren hasn't let go of my hand.
He looks down at me with worry. "That's not good, I have some painkillers in my car. You could take a few to get rid of it." He said. I'm looking around and I'm surprised that he'd park so far away from the club.
"Why did you park so far away?" I ask. He looks around and shrugs his shoulders.
"I like the walk. It's peaceful." He explains, I just shake my head at him.
"Okay." I whisper. We make it to his car a few minutes later. He unlocks the door and opens it for me. Bowing down with an arm gesture, I laugh and get in.
"Thank you kind sir." I joke.
"Your welcome my lady." He jokes back. Closing the door before I could say anything in return.
When he hops in himself I just glare jokingly at him. He chuckles.
"The painkillers are in the glove box." He said, pointing towards it. I open it, finding papers and folders. I blush as I see a bottle of lube and a pack of condoms. I hear him chuckle sheepishly. I turn towards him with a raised eyebrow.
"What, no handcuffs?" I ask. Sounding completely serious. His eyes widen before he breaks out into contagious laughter.
"W-what? No! I keep those in the trunk!" He jokes back. Holding his side as his body convulses with laughter. I just shrug my shoulders and continue looking through the compartment. I find the bottle of painkillers and take it out. Shaking out two pills. Without thinking I just toss them back and swallow them dry. I'm used to taking pills by now so it's second nature.
Darren just shakes his head and turns the key in the ignition. He pulls out of the parking spot.
"So where do you live?" He asks, briefly looking at me.
"On Edwards street. The older apartments next to the cafe and bookstore." I respond. Looking out the window as the city passes us by. I glance at the clock and I'm surprised at how late it is.
In a few minutes we arrive outside my apartment, I start to fidget in my seat. Playing with the seat belt until his hands overlap my own. Halting me.
"Can I escort you to the door? It will ease my worry." He says, smiling at me. I just nod and he squeezes my hand before letting go and getting out of the car. Following him, I slowly exit the car. He meets me at the door, and we both climb the steps to my apartment. Once reaching the door I take the keys out of my back pocket.
" The chances of us meeting again were slim. Every day I wished that it would Happen. Now that it has,I'm not going to let this opportunity pass me by. I'm going to make you mine Derek." He whispered. Stepping closer and closer towards me until he's right in front of me. I look up and find his gaze focused On my lips. His head dips in and his lips lightly touch mine. I sigh at the feeling, his slightly chapped lips on my own feels better than I imagined. He presses against me harder, lifting his hand to entwine with my hair. I move my lips against him. After a few moments he pulls back, his eyes glazed over in amazement and lust.
"I'll see you later Derek," he whispered. Pecking my lips again before turning in his heel and walking away. I lean against the door after I enter my apartment. Feeling like a teenage girl as I lift my hands towards my lips, still feeling his lips against my own.
