After Darren dropped me off I took a quick shower and got dressed for school. It's almost winter break, so I'm excited. I'm supposed to go home, but by the way that my parents aren't on the greatest terms and the fact that my father is coming down to visit I doubt that that is going to happen.
It saddens me to know that my mother no longer supports me. No longer loves me as her son.
I'm startled out of my thoughts when the door swings open and I bouncy Kendall rushes into the apartment. A wool scarf wrapped around his neck and a red beanie placed on his head. His cheeks flushed from the cold weather. As soon as he. Prices me on the couch eating cereal he bounds over and sits beside me. He looks at me expectantly.
I remain silent making him huff with a glare.
"Derek!" He groans out dramatically. Falling back into the couch.
"Fine, we patched things over." I say. Not giving him any details just to tease him.
"And?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.
"We had sex, and he's coming over later so we can fully... Talk about things." I say, frowning at the thought. He looks at me with sad eyes.
"Don't be nervous Derek. He won't blame you for anything nor judge you. Relax, anybody could tell that he's totally infatuated with you." He soothes. Placing a comforting hand on my back. I sag against it.
"I sure hope so." I whisper. He only smiles softly at me.
"So, when is your dad arriving? I miss him." Kendall pouts. I chuckle lightly. My father and him have always been close. He was treated like another son by my father, my mother? Not so much. He was just considered a friend.
"Tomorrow." I state. Shoving a spoonful of my now soggy cereal into my mouth. He bounces in his seat in excitement.
"Oh! I hope he likes Monroe! Ah, I have to tell Monroe that he's coming!" He squeals. Jumping up and running into the kitchen to call Monroe. I just shake me head at his antics.
Sighing I stand up and frown at my now ruined cereal. I walk I tot he kitchen and quickly rinse out my bowl. Listening to Kendall as he chirps to Monroe. Poor guy, am excited Kendall is an annoying Kendall. I grab my jacket and shrug it on before exiting the apartment. Book in hand. I always leave my back pack in my truck so I don't have to lug it around all the time. I look at my watch and find out I have enough time to swing around the bookstore. Knowing that after my class I'll be too tired to bother. As I walk towards the bookstore I notice a familiar blonde head entering it. I speed up my walk, and quickly enter the establishment after him.
I walk in to find Orion talking to Annabelle with a soft smile. Handing over a bag full of books. Annabelle looks over at me when she hears the bell ringing.
"Hello dear! Coming for another book?" She asks. Smiling at me warmly.
"Yes I am, finished this book." I say, holding up the book awkwardly. She waves me over.
"Great, I was waiting for your return. I already picked out the book. You'll love it." She says as she enters a small back room. I place the book on the counter and turn towards Orion.
"Hey Derek. How are you?" He asks with a warm smile. I smile back at him.
"Good, great actually." I respond. Looking down at my feet.
"That's amazing. Want to grab a coffee after this?" He asks me. Tilting his head slightly.
"Sure, I don't have a lot of time though. I have a class in an hour and a half." I say, my tone slightly saddened.
"That's fine." He says just as Annabelle walks back into the room. Holding a thick book in her hands.
"Do you guys know each other?" She asks as she hands me the new book. Taking the old one and placing it on the cart beside her.
"Yeah, we're good friends." Orion says. Smiling at her.
"That's great! Anyways darling, bring back that book as soon as your done. I'm excited to see what you think. It's a classic." She says. Pushing her long hair behind her ear.
"Okay, thank you Annabelle. " I say, Orion and I both say our goodbyes before leaving to the cafe located beside the book store.
