AN: Bare with me please, I wanted to make my bbgs suffer 🙏

————————————————

Xiao woke up early, about 2 or three hours before he had to leave? At least, that’s what he assumed. He didn’t even bother looking at the time. He just laid there, looking up at the ceiling.

In truth, he really felt nothing at all, but continues to tell himself he can be called 'human.'

Zhongli made his way up the stairs, towards Xiao’s bedroom. He cleared his throat, annoucing his presence before knocking on the door in front of him. This action snapped Xiao out of his thoughts, the sound of Zhongli’s voice reminding him to get up and ready.

"I’m up, father." He called out through the door, his tone monotone and rather bland. This had become a routine for the two. Besides for the irritating ginger that occasionally visited Xiao and Zhongli for breakfast, their mornings were mostly quiet.

At least, after Aether left.

He *was* one of the only people Xiao trusted. That Xiao cared for. But.. he left awhile ago. With his sister. He left for her. Actually, it’s been so long he’s forgotten what Aether looked like. Besides for vague memories, the only trait he remembered was the fact that he’s blond with those bright golden eyes.

He stared off into space, not particularly hungry. Although, he would start eating a few moments later purely because he didn’t want Zhongli’s cooking to go to waste.

As he stood up from where he sat, he gave a little wave to Zhongli before tidying up his hair, putting on his coat and leaving the house. It was his first day of college, after all.

As he entered his first class of the day, he was a bit early as there where only a few people there arranging their seating areas. He decided to hang out around campus for awhile before heading back to his classroom, he had about 40 minutes either way.

Walking mindlessly around the garden, he sat down on a bench that was adorned with some vine decorations, relaxing for a few minutes. He set a timer on his phone so that he wouldn’t forget to go back. His eyelids fluttered shut, listening to the sounds of nature around him, the quiet breeze setting the right atmosphere to relax.

Once he opened his eyes again, he felt a weight on his shoulder. He turned to look at who was sitting next to him, seeing a petite boy, no less than 20, maybe? Either way, the presence of the boy wasn’t exactly welcomed, especially with the fact that he was sleeping on Xiao’s shoulder.

Xiao gently adjusted the boy, as he did so, he got a better look at his features. He has blonde hair, which was tied into a braid bun. His skin is soft, with almost no flaws. It would help if he wasn’t asleep, if he wasn’t asleep then Xiao would be able to see his eyes. But.. the blonde looked familiar. Very familiar.

He sighed, setting the boy to the side as he stood up from the bench. He looked at his phone, it was about 10 minutes until class started so he decided to get going. Before he started walking, he put his phone in his coat pocket before hearing a soft voice. A *very* familiar voice, at that

"Xiao,"

He saw those soft golden eyes staring up at him, the look of acquiescence adorning those beautiful eyes. His own starting to widen at the sight infront of him.

"Aether...?"

"Aether...?" He found the name slipping off his tongue before he could catch himself, earning himself a puzzled look. "Who’s Aether?" The boy asked, very confused. "Ah.. nobody, don’t worry about that." Xiao said sheepishly before turning away again. Of course it wasn’t Aether, he left and he won’t return. There’s nothing for him to return to.

He won’t come back.
