With a map in her hands, Kara directed Charles to the location the coordinates led them to. In the back of the car were Raven, Klaus, and Erik, who were all confused about what Kara and Charles were keeping a secret. The two of them had both agreed not to tell them until after they left from the coordinates, knowing it would either be something good or not something worth the explanation.
Kara could hear ringing in her ears as they got closer to the location. Her nerves were spiked and her head was beginning to pound.
"Turn left up there." She directed, shutting the map and placing it on the seat beside her, keeping her eyes trained on the upcoming location.
As Charles turned onto a dirt road, her chest bubbled with anticipation. She didn't know what she was expecting, but once she saw what was in front of her, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
There was nothing but trees and fallen leaves scattered around the ground. Nothing. There was nothing.
"You've got to be kidding me." She huffed, opening the door and slamming it behind her.
Charles turned in his seat to look at the three in the backseat. "Stay in the car, kids. If we don't come back in two hours, we're most likely dead." He forced a small smile before he too got out of the car, not before grabbing the book and card that Kara had left.
He caught up to her and looked around for anything, but there was nothing. He could hear her frustrated thoughts emitting from the anger on her face.
She was yet again upset she had come up with nothing after finding her mother's initials on the card. That alone sparked something deeper she ever imagined inside of her soul and she wasn't ready to get rid of it.
Her boots crunched against the leaves, leaving a trail of muddy footprints for them to follow when they decided to go back.
"Kara," Charles muttered as he stepped on something hard below the leaves. She wasn't listening though, as she kept walking in order to not lash out her frustration.
"Kara! I think I found something." He said aloud once he kneeled down and brushed away the leaves. There was a metal door underneath some of the dirt he pushed away.
Kara turned, seeing him knelt down and her anger subsided for a moment while she walked back over to him. Her lips formed a thin line as she noticed the symbol planted on the door.
"I've seen that symbol before. My father had a watch with it as its background." She breathed out in disbelief, remembering the watch her father forbade her and Klaus from ever touching.
"Help me." He demanded, digging his fingertips underneath the metal in hopes of pulling it up. She followed, able to successfully pull it up with Charles' help.
Standing over the now open door, all they saw was the black abyss. Glancing at each other, they smiled in victory. "Got any flashlights?" She questioned.
He pulled two from his pocket, "Already had it in mind." He smirked, clicking one on and shining it down into the room.
All they were able to see was a concrete floor and a ladder connected to the wall for people to enter and exit. He decided on going first in case something was lurking down there.
Climbing down the steps, he looked around. "All clear." He yelled, watching her climb down and holding his hand out to help her down.
She gladly took it, sliding her hand into his and letting go once he handed her a flashlight so they could look around.
Dust emitted from everything around them, making the two wave their hands in front of their faces to not walk through it.
The lights from the flashlights scanned everything until they landed on a door. It looked like a bunker base, she thought.
