The drive to the facility was agonizing for Erik, his need to see the woman whom he'd painfully missed the few days he had been gone was overwhelming due to his thoughts being crowded by her mere existence. He couldn't help but think about her every time he turned around and slept, his eyes having been burned by the sight of her beautiful features.

He had blocked out everyone during the car ride and focused on driving safely to the facility while still thinking about her, ready to see her smile whether it was sarcastic or not.

When he pulled up to the facility, the four of them stared in shock at the destruction surrounding the building. Army mercenaries were marching around while government officials stood by, observing the ruin.

Charles, Moira, Erik, and Klaus rushed out of the vehicle, assuming the worst until Charles caught sight of the kids sitting around with despair written across their faces.

Erik looked around as Charles talked to the kids, not finding Kara or Kit around. His fists balled at his sides and his jaw tightened, wondering if the two were harmed during the destruction of the place. "Where's Kara?" He questioned, looking around as both Charles and Klaus wondered the same thing.

"She took Kit after you guys left. They haven't been back since then." Alex announced.

Both Erik and Klaus glanced at each other in concern, wanting to know why the two were missing.

"Darwin's dead, Charles. We can't even bury him." Raven stated after Charles urged for them to be taken back to their homes.

"We can avenge him." Erik declared, shoving thoughts about Kara away as he focused on the problem at hand. The kids stared at him in confusion before Charles pulled him aside.

"They're just kids." Charles whispered.

"No, they were kids. Shaw has his army, we need ours." Erik urged, watching Charles glance back at the kids.

"We'll have to train. All of us. Yes?" Charles lifted a questioning brow.

"Yeah."

"We can't stay here. Even if they reopen the department, it's not safe. We've got nowhere to go." Hank sighed, his shoulders sinking.

"Yes, we do." Charles smirked, glancing at Klaus and Erik.

Kara and Kit were both outside training when two trucks pulled up the long gravel driveway. Her eyes squinted as she stood straight up from her crouched position, holding a hand over her eyes to shield the sun away from her vision.

She bit her lip as her finger brushed her wound which was still fresh and open. The medicine she had covered it with the night before did nothing but hurt her further.

"Why are they here so soon?" Kit mumbled, standing to his feet beside her as he stared as well.

"I don't know." She replied, pushing him to walk with a hand on his back.

The trucks parked and out came the four adults with the kids, except Darwin, Kara noticed. She watched Klaus begin running toward her until he reached her and engulfed her between his arms, exhaling a long breath of relief.

"You're alright-" He cut himself off once he backed away and noticed the scar on her cheek and the slit on her throat.

"What the fuck! What happened to you?" He questioned, his face scrunched up in concern as he held her face in his hands.

Charles trailed behind him and took in the sight of her, looking over Kit for any injuries, thankful to see none. "Kara?" Charles asked worriedly.

Kara caught sight of Erik walking up to them and when his eyes connected with hers, she could see his shoulders relax for a mere second before they tensed once he took in her wounds.
