"You don't know?" Hank questioned, his voice strained as he stood in front of Erik Lehnsherr and Klaus Wilder after countless years."Know what, Hank?" Klaus tilted his head. The sight of their old friend disturbed them, but the look in his eyes disturbed them further.
"Ravens dead. Jean killed her." He whispered as if saying it any louder would cause him to crumble into a million pieces. Erik noticed he wasn't done speaking, his voice hesitant as he faced the two men. "And Kara is missing. We think it has something to do with Jean, as well."
The world went silent after the two listened to those words, Klaus' legs crumbling beneath him as Erik shook his head in disbelief.
It'd been years since he faced the tragedy in his memories of the woman he left in a pile of broken pieces on the beach in Cuba. His heart ached as he heard the faint whisper of her name, the four letters stamping his soul with karma and grief.
He lost her all those years ago and now, the selfish person he was, stood with the world crumbling down for him again at the knowledge of the woman missing.
He couldn't do it again.
He wouldn't do it again.
—AUTHORS NOTE
Here in August feels so weird after months of having this book finished. I've finally come back to my X-MEN motivation and came up with the plot for book two. I think this sneak peek does enough justice as to what is going to happen. If you don't know already, the second book takes place in X-MEN DARK PHEONIX and I already have it mostly planned out. Hopefully, I'll have it published just to have it done but I haven't even started writing it so don't count on it. Anyway, I hope to see you guys in a few weeks/months. I love you all tremendously!! <33
