"Focus, kid. Take a deep breath in and relax yourself."

The statement relieved Kit into a calmer form while he stood in the prickly and irritating sand. The feeling of the substance made him want to curse loudly and scratch his skin off, but he instead straightened his posture once her words spoke throughout the salty air around them.

The two, plus Jamie who had volunteered to tag along, were at the beach. Kara had been itching to start combat training up but with her ribs still healing, she offered the only other option, which was to train Kit on a different level.

He'd accomplished several tasks of his ability and now he was ready for the more difficult things that Kara had to go through. Granted, she wasn't as harsh on him as her instructor was, which he was grateful for.

Kara and Jamie sat on the hood of her car, watching with trained eyes as Kit stood at the shoreline, his fists clenched at his sides as he searched out the waves.

Once Kit failed at an attempt to form a wave of his own, Kara bumped Jamie's elbow to move her attention to what was about to happen to the boy.

Kara held her hand out and briskly moved a wave over to Kit, watching as it drowned him until he stood soaking wet. The two women laughed as he turned, his face screwed up in frustration.

"We've been at this for the last hour, kid. I think we should come back tomorrow." Kara yelled out so that he could hear her, standing from the hood and shoving the hair from her chest over her shoulders.

"No! I can do it, just let me focus again." He begged, tired of getting dunked with water after his many failed attempts.

It didn't help that the eyes of Jamie were trained on him the whole day. It was irritating that he couldn't accomplish a trial just because of her presence.

Kara stood still, sending him a nod as if to say, "One more time." He didn't respond and only turned, resisting a shiver at the whipping wind hitting against his soaked skin.

He took a deep breath in, remembering Kara's encouraging words every time he failed. Holding his hands out, he motioned them down as a wave slowly formed, keeping his eyes locked on the whirling of the water.

Kara smirked, proud of how far he'd come over the months. It felt like it was just yesterday she was teaching him how to hold his breath underwater.

Kit turned back, a huge grin plastered along his lips as he noticed the proud expression across Kara's face. His eyes filtered to Jamie, grinning wider at the cheerful smile she held.

"Time to head back, kids. I bet you're tired and I know you're hungry." She pointed to Kit first before nodding at Jamie, having heard her mumbles of starvation.

Once Kit had reached the car, he caught the towel Kara tossed to him. "Can you dry me off? Please?"

Kara winked at him, "No. You suffer the consequences. You'll be fine." She stated, listening as he grumbled before sliding into the backseat while Jamie sat in the front.

She glanced down at her covered arm, feeling it tense as she rested her hand on the wheel. She chewed on the inside of her cheek as it pulsated, knowing it was only a matter of time before Hank found out what was in the substance.

After Charles had left her in the lab that night a few weeks ago, Hank began working on the serum to try and find out everything about it. He'd come up empty every time he tested it, which made Kara's anger grow.

She was beginning to wonder if her sprouting anger was because of the serum. Yes, she's always held anger within herself, but lately, it's been hard to keep it under control.
