My phone sits before me, displaying a frazzled looking Brooke. "Yes the dress is very nice," she agrees as we go over her options again. "But the leather skirt and blouse go better with my heels."
"Yes," I nod seeing completely what she means, "alright then you have to change the necklace to something silver."
"Right!" She gets up leaving my screen momentarily before coming back and holding a small thin necklace to her neck. "Better?"
"Yes, much. The silver goes better with the skirt and the gold went better with the dress." I nod.
Brooke and I decided against getting ready together in person so we opted to do it over FaceTime.
"Okay, but what about mine?" I'm still nowhere closer to deciding what to wear since we called.
I have my black dress or my skirt and blouse combo just like Brooke. The difference is that I don't know where Theo is taking me Brian caved and told Brooke where they were going.
"I think..." I drone on looking back at my options, we will be at a restraunt since he said dinner. "I'll go with the dress."
"And you can wear those heels I gifted you for Christmas!" She gasps. She gifted me a beautiful pair of black heals that have a rhinestone ankle strap.
"Yes perfect. Then I can wear my silver bracelets and earrings to match the stones." We both grin at each other. There was no way this was going to be completed without each other.
After I hang up the call with Brooke. I put on the outfit we decided on with my jewelry and heels. My makeup was already done earlier on our FaceTime call along with my hair. I've straightened and curled it, so it falls in voluminous waves.
I stand before my full length mirror admiring myself. I smile and feel a hint of nerves uncoil in my lower belly.
I haven't had many dates in my adult life so it's safe to say I really do not know what to expect. The last date I've been on was a few years ago, a friend of somebody at work. We had Chinese take out on his apartment floor, not ideal. And he was blocked immediately after.
When the doorbell chime sounds through my house I shake my hands trying to rid myself of any jitters.
I grab a purse and curl my fingers around it and take a deep breath as I walk over to my door. As soon as the door opens it reveals Theo. My eyes run down his body, and I feel myself grip the door knob harder than necessary.
His black fitted shirt strains again this biceps, and his pants, oh God. I can see the strong sculpture of his thighs. The best part though, the sleeves of his shirt are rolled up showing off his veiny forearms. I nearly melt when I see his hands holding onto a bouquet of flowers.
"So stunning." Theo whispers. My eyes snap back to his eyes and me face heats when I see how he's looking at me. I quickly avert my eyes back to the flower bouquet.
"Oh, um." He clears his throat and holds them out, "I wasn't sure what your favorite was so I got a variety."
"I love them." I smile, looking at the variety of white and pink roses, white dahlias, pink carnations, pale yellow tulips, and a few others I can't name. "I don't have a favorite, I think they are all lovely." And I mean it, I've never been able to pick a favorite.
