"Are you feeling better?" Adam asks, wrapping his arm around me as we snuggle in bed. I nod, wrapping my arm around his torso. "Yeah, much better."
He kisses my forehead and sighs. I look up at him and for a while I don't know what to say. I just wanted to take in this feeling of being next to him.
"What is it, darling?" He asks, smiling as he tucks in a lock of hair behind my ear. I shake my head and smile back.
"I thought I couldn't get over him. For so many years. Until you asked me out. And now I can't stop thinking about you. And now you're right here next to me. I never wanna go on without this."
He smiles, stroking his thumb against my cheek. "I know he meant a lot to you. But now you're with me. And I'm gonna give you much more than he ever could." I smile, nodding.
"I don't doubt it."
He chuckles, kissing my lips softly. "Anything you wanna tell me?" He raises his eyebrows. I think for a while and sigh. "No." "Are you sure?"
I smile, thinking again. He breaks into a smile, playing with my hair. I sigh and shake my head. "It's too soon to say."
"No. It's never too soon to say anything."
I sigh, leaning on his chest. "I think I love you." He raises his eyebrows again, surprised.
I purse my lips and chuckle. "I'm sorry. I...never mind. It was too soon anyway."
"No. It's okay." He says, keeping me still before I pull away from him.
"You're amazing. I didn't think I'd survive this vacation without you. And now that you're here I can only thank my stars for it." He smiles lovingly, placing a kiss on my hand. "I love you, Olive. I love you so much."
I smile wider than I ever have in my life, wrapping my arms around him tight. "Oh, thank God. It would've been embarrassing if you hadn't said it back."
He laughs, hugging me tight. "I know, my sweet. Get some rest now. I've got a surprise for you tomorrow."
I stare at him, and he nods, smiling at me. "Okay. Goodnight, Adam." "Goodnight, Olive."
I wrap my arm around him, closing my eyes and dozing off, feeling content once again.
