“So? What do you think?” He asks, looking at the banquet hall. I shake my head, looking around the gloomy landscape.
“I don't like it. I don't know why. Each and every place we'd gone to see, I'm not happy about it.” I frown, turning to him.
He nods, holding out his hand. “Come on, let's get back to the car.” I take his hand and he leads me back to the vehicle. We enter the car and i let out a heavy sigh, turning to him.
“Any other ideas?” I ask. He frowns, thinking for a while. “Not one I can think of.”
I groan, thumping my head onto the steering wheel. He lifts my forehead away and brushes his fingers across. “Don't do that sweetheart. You'll hurt yourself.”
I smile, feeling upset. “It's okay. We can look again tomorrow.” He says, staring at the sun. “It's getting late anyway.”
I nod, sighing. “Do you want me to drive you home? You look tired.” He offers. I nod with a smile and we exchange seat positions.
“You can take a nap. Don't worry about it.” He says. “Thank you. Just thinking about all this is giving me a headache.”
“Take some rest. It'll be okay.”
I nod, closing my eyes and dozing off in a few seconds. I think I was really exhausted. More than I thought I was.
A warm hand on my thigh wakes me up. “Mm. Wh- where where are we?” I ask, looking around.
“It's the surprise i was telling you about.” Adam says, smiling at me. My eyes light up and I look around, realizing I'm in his guesthouse area.
“Come. Let's go.”
He gets down from the car and grabs a bag. He leads me down the path and points to the house. “It's still a mess inside. So best we avoid that area.” He walks towards the beach area and heads towards a boat.
“I thought, we could have a nice boat-date-day.” He grins, pushing the boat to the water.
“Adam, this is all so…wonderful.” I smile, giving the biggest doe eyes ever. He smiles, letting me get into the boat.
He grabs an oar and grabs the bag, entering the boat.
“Let's head for the center. The sun is still shining bright.”
“This is amazing.” I utter to myself, looking around me, admiring the scenery that absolutely melts my heart. How thankful I feel for quitting my old life to enjoy what truly matters.
I turn my gaze to him but find his eyes already laying on me. He stops rowing and pulls the oar onto the boat, locking his eyes with mine.
“You look absolutely gorgeous in this light.” He whispers, tilting his head to study me. The sun shining on me makes him smile bigger. “Fuck.” He utters, grabbing hold of my hands. “You're beautiful. You know that?”
I coyly shake my head. He cups my cheeks and kisses my lips softly. “I love you, Olive. So much. You drive me crazy. I can't stop thinking about you. I'm obsessed.”
I chuckle, grabbing his arms. “I am obsessed with you too. More than i could even imagine.” He chuckles, kissing my cheek.
He grabs the bag and brings it forward. He grins, pulling out some Mcdonalds. “i wanna spoil you today. And I'm not sure if you'd like this. I also got a Ceaser salad.”
I chuckle, cupping his cheeks. “You're absolutely adorable. And I'll eat all three.”
“Three?” “You included, handsome.”
“Ah!” He nods, handing me a burger. “Let's eat. I Know you're hungry. After all that work today.” “you know it.”
I bite into the burger and he grins at me, mouthful. I chuckle and look around me. “it's such a beautiful place, Adam. I'm glad you're here for this. You know, for your grandma.”
He nods, staring at the house. “Yeah, I hope she's happy for me. Now that I've finally found a home I can stay in forever.”
He smiles at me and I can feel my cheeks fill with hot blood. “Adam, don't say that.”
“I'm sorry.” He chuckles.
I look at the pier and nod my head, thinking.
“What? What's on your mind?” He asks.
“I have a crazy idea.”
I turn to him, with a serious look on my face. “Okay?”
“This is the perfect spot.” “What? Really?”
“Yes. Really. I mean, the pier is big enough, the lake! The sunset! It's everything!”
He stops chewing and thinks for a while. I immediately stop him. “I'm sorry. I was just suggesting. I think it might be great. What do you think?”
He stares at me for a while and nods. “It's an amazing idea. You're right.”
“What? Really?” I ask, surprised. He smiles. “Of course. Anything for you, sweetheart. Whatever you want.”
I frown and smile big, wrapping my arms around him. “I love you, you amazing human! Fuck! She's gonna lose her mind.”
He cups my cheeks and kisses me lovingly. “She will. I can't wait for the day to come.” “Me neither.” “Let's eat. The sun doesn't wait for anyone.”
I chuckle, nodding. I continue eating and pause, looking at him. “I've had a rough life growing up, Adam. But now, I'm here. I don't know if it got me here or not, but I'm grateful for you.”
He smiles, nodding his head at me. “You'll always have me.” “Thank you.”
“You can tell me anything anytime you feel. I'm always here for you.” I stare at him before nodding my head. “Of course, A. I know I always can.”
“Damn right.”
