We get inside his car and he pulls away from his home. “How do you have so much energy?” I ask, staring at him.
He smiles, grabbing my hand and brings it to his lips. “You make me feel different. I wanna give you everything. I wanna keep you happy.” He looks at me and I melt into his words. “You're so adorable.”
“I love you.” He smiles, holding my hand as he shifts gears. “I love you more.” I reply, taking a deep breath.
“I've not had that many lovers. I wanted to focus on myself and when the time's right I'd settle for one. And now I have you. And I know I'm ready for anything. Anything with you.”
I chuckle. “You like rushing, don't you?”
“When I've made up my mind about something, I'd like to think it through and settle on it.” He smiles, stealing a glance at me. I smile and look away. “Okay. Well, let me know what else you're thinking of. Let me be more aware.”
He scoffs. “You know exactly how it's gonna be, sweetheart.” I bite my lip and shake my head. “Okay.”
We finally reach a store where they sell tuxedos and suits. He pulls over and we get down from the car.
We walk into the shop and we look around, looking for something that catches his eye. “Is there a theme?”
“I don't think so. She said ‘simple’. She never told me anything about a theme.” “Okay. Why don't you have a seat? I'll just pick something and I'll wear it.”
“Okay.”
He turns around and talks to the lady before he pauses and looks at me.
“My sweet, what's the color of your dress?”
“Pink.” “Like light pink?” “Mmhmm.” My eyes light up at his smile. “Okay.” He turns around and talks to the lady.
After 10 minutes, he comes out with a grin on his face and a bag in-hand. “Done.”
“What'd you pick?” I ask. “Pink, my love.” I smile bigger than I had ever. “Really? You wanna match with me?”
“Of course!” “You're fine with pink?” “Yeah, why not? It's just a color. Plus I wanna match outfits. And I don't care about what anyone else would think. I just want you to be happy.” He smiles, sliding his hand around my waist.
“You're gonna make me melt on this floor.” He laughs and nudges his head. “Let's go.”
We walk to the car and I pause. “Can we buy some clothes? I feel like I've been wearing the same outfit at your place. Plus now that you have a space for me, I'd like to fill it.” I grin.
“Of course, what were you thinking?” “Nothing special. Just some tops and pants. Maybe shoes.”
“Sure, love. Come. You can show me the place.”
“I know just the one.”
After shopping, he drives us back to his lake house. “Is your friend coming today?” He asks, getting down from the car.
“Uh…yeah. He says he's already here.” I frown, looking around.
I spot Travis at the pier and I grin. “There he is.” I point. We grab the bags and head for the house. “Give me the bags, love. You can talk to him.” Adam says, taking the bags from me. “Are you sure? I'd like to help.”
“Don't worry. I'll be out in a second.” He smiles. “Okay. Thanks.” I smile, walking towards Travis.
Travis grins, panning his arms out for a hug. I hug him back and smile. “My girl! So this is what you've been up to? I see you've bagged a 10.”
“More like a 100/10.” I smirk, looking back at Adam as he disappears into the house.
“So? It'll be here? Give me your insight.”
“I was hoping the officiant would stand here and they would stand here.” I point to the start of the pier. “The people can sit back there. Listen, you know best. But so far that's all I want.” I say, shrugging.
He chuckles. “Okay. Don't worry.”
He looks around studying the area and he pauses, looking behind me. “Hey.” He grins at Adam as he approaches us.
“Hi, Travis?” Adam greets, extending his arm. “Yes.” “I'm Adam.” “Nice to meet you. This is yours?” He asks, pointing all around. Adam nods and smiles. “My grandma's. I'm lucky enough to get this.”
“Damn right you are. It's an amazing place.”
“So? What are you thinking?” Adam asks. “Don't worry. I'll handle this. Next Friday you say? I'll prepare it on Wednesday. But I'll be bringing the chairs on Friday. You know, safer.”
I nod. “T, you know what's best. It's all good.”
“Great. I'll get back to you. Bye, guys.” Travis says, walking away from us.
“Well, he's a great guy.” Adam says, grinning at me. “Definitely. At least, this is working out.”
“You know it will. It's gonna be great.” “With you next to me? You know damn right it will.” I smile. He cups my cheeks and kisses me hard. “Damn right.”
