After breakfast, he gets dressed and we head out in my car. “So? Do we have to postpone that surprise?” I ask. He shakes his head. “Not really sure. Depends on today.”
I smile, nodding my head. “Okay.”
“So? Tell me about Alex.” I chuckle, feeling glad he's actually interested in my life.
“Alex is my best friend. Since we were kids. We've always been together, never apart. She's always there when I need her and vice versa. It's hard to find a true friend in such a cruel world.”
“She sounds like an amazing person. And she's getting married soon you say?”
“Yeah. This guy, Marcus Luciano. He's a great dude. They met in college. It's like love at first sight.” He chuckles, nodding his head.
“What about you, tell me about yourself.”
“Well, you know about my family and my sister, I had a good friend too but we fell out after college. It was meant to be. He got into drugs and stuff and I couldn't deal with that. So I left him.”
“That sucks. Drugs are shit.” “They really are.”
“So? Your parents? They're well?”
“No. They're dead. It happened a few years ago. An accident with a truck. It was a mess.”
“What? That's fucked up, I'm sorry.” “Yeah, but it's okay. He got jail time and…after that I've been distant from my sister. I feel like she doesn't wanna talk to me anymore.”
“I don't think so. Maybe you both need to catch up and talk about what happened. Maybe you can get along once again.” He smiles and nods. “Yeah, I'll give her a call later.”
“Good.”
I pull over the store and we head inside. While we wait for the dresses, I look around the store gazing at the long gowns in the store.
“I can't wait to see you in one of these.” Adam says. I narrow my brows suddenly and turn to him surprised.
He chuckles. “What? You didn't think I wouldn't want it right?”
I laugh, slapping his thigh gently. “Stop! Don't say all that. I don't like rushing.”
“Mm. Remind me who said the three words first.”
I roll my eyes and turn away from him. He erupts in laughter and wraps his arms around me. “My sweet, I'm just joking. You know I love you.” He kisses my cheek and wins me over easily.
“Here you go, Miss.” The store keeper says, handing me two dresses. I smile, grabbing them and taking our leave.
“Two? Only?” He asks. “Yeah. I'm the maid of honor. It's a small wedding.”
“Going alone?” “You wanna get invited?” I raise my eyebrows at him. He shrugs, opening the car door for me. “Maybe. I'd like to meet her. She sounds amazing.”
“Interesting.” I get in the car and place the bags in the back seat.
“Yes, come with me to the wedding. At least for once people can stop asking me when I'll get a man.” I roll my eyes, starting the car.
“Don't worry, they're not gonna have any of those doubts after seeing me.”
“A gorgeous man like you for me? They'd think you've gone mad.”
“Then let me be madly in love.”
I roll my eyes, driving away from there with a jello heart.
