I was walking to school, not paying attention to anything or anyone in particular listening to Lana Del Ray's song 'say yes to heaven' while my mind was on River
Like the song says "I've got my mind on you". I finally got to school and as I walked through the gate I noticed there was a group of girls looking at me which instantly made me feel insecure
Was my hair bad? Is there something on my face? Do they think I'm a joke in general???
I hated walking around school alone. It made me feel like a target. I sighed and continued walking to my group of friends.
"hiii everyone!... Hi my love" I said kissing Autumn's cheek. "bro I'm straight, the fuck?" she said when people looked at us with confusion
We all burst out laughing at the statement.
I turned to see Alice walking towards us with Camilla and they were laughing about something, my best friend is allowed to have other friends. I don't give a damn about who she's friends with, but her and Camilla walked past me like I wasn't there.
I just sighed and turned back to my friends. Like I said: She is my best friend but that doesn't mean I'm her best friend
"why you crying?" Lucas asked me
"im not crying!" I said hitting his arm
"I mean... That's the same face you had when your dad left" Lucas said with faking sympathy
"Fight for me Autumn! You gon let him talk about your father in law like that?" I said turning to her
"how dare you talk to my wife like that and also... Her father didn't just leave... He ran" she said before we all burst out laughing
"fuck you guys!" I said laughing with them.
All my friends knew is that my parents were divorced but he still pays my school fees and that I go to his house every weekend and how his such a nice dad.
They don't know the other side of my life, and I preferred it that way. Autumn went to the top of the stairs and held out her hand for me to take.
"oh thank you! Such a gentlelady" I said giving her my hand and fanning my face with the other.
"only the best for my wife" she said before heading the other direction since me and her didn't have any class together.
Fuck it was business right now and I was sitting next to Alice and I feel like she's avoiding me or sum, but she's that type.
I was walking down the stairs when I saw River at the bottom "Catch me" I said before I jumped and thanked the heavens that she caught me with her hands on my waist and mine around her neck
"fuck, melanie you can't keep doing that" she said making me look in her eyes
"I know, I know" I said getting down and instantly missed her arms around my waist.
The thing is;I'm short and have petite body so I take advantage of it and jump on people's back or in their arms because being carried felt amazing so I did it a lot. People around the school know that every time they see me, they should be ready incase I jump.
Most people are annoyed and think I'm a 'pick me' and all that but I just genuinely enjoy being carried but people would never understand.
"did you do the homework?" She asked as we waited outside the class for the teacher to come
[A/N in my school you can't get in class without the teachers permission]
"Nope" I said and she just chuckled before asking me to hold her bag
"the fuck? I can't hold your bag while I have my own" I said and looked at her like she was crazy
She looked down at me before putting her hand on my cheek and rubbing it
"please Mel, you don't have to carry it. Just watch it for me okay?"
She asked bringing her face closer to mine and I nodded my head back in response
"good girl" she whispered before putting her bag down and putting her cap on my head before going to her cousin who's also in our class but was walking around the school
"girl your birthday is in two weeks!you'll finally be 16" 15 yes I lied about my age too. All my friends think I'm turning 16,but I'm turning 15 and I'm 14 at the moment. Which is probably why everyone in school is taller and bigger than me
"I know right! I'm so excited!" I said smiling at Alice. Guess she wasnt ignoring me?
"Are you having a party?" this other girl asked
"yeah, but it's only for family members" I'm lying,I just don't want anyone coming to my house and I can't afford to host a party somewhere else.
I then looked down at my phone and smiled when I saw a threat from duoligo making me laugh.
"who you smiling at-oh wait your single" Alice said turning her head like she ate
"girl, you did Not eat. You just offended me, I hope your happy with yourself" I said being fake hurt
"I am, how did you know?" She said looking back at me with a big smile on her face
"just a hunch...do-do you think I can read minds?" I said holding her hands in mine
"I think you can. How many finger am I holding up" she asked holding up 5
"2?" I asked her
"damn your good!" she said jumping up with excitement
"how do you bozos do that?" River said as she walked towards me and Alice
"Do what?" we both asked at the same time
"Do...This, how do you keep a straight face while doing/saying the most stupidest things in the world"
Now it was our turn to look at River like she was the bozo.
"B-but I can read minds"
"but she can read minds"
Both me and Alice said at the same time
"I swear, yall act like yall high. All day everyday" She said with a chuckle before taking her bag but leaving me with her cap.
Caps were not actually allowed in the school since we wear uniform and it wouldn't go well with the formal attire.
"My mind is telling me something!" I said to Alice grabbing her hand
"what's it telling you?!" she asked getting closer to me
"it's telling me... There's a black person among us" I said while messaging my temples and squinting my eyes pretending I can see the future
"uh... This school has 40% black kids what do you mean?" the guy next to us asked but Alice quickly shushed him.
"you wouldn't get it-" I started saying but he cut me off
"-ohh" he said
Me and Alice looked at him offended
"the guts!" I said making him turn back to us
"wha-"
"the disrespect" Alice said cutting him off
"I-"
"The balls!" I said trying to raise my eyebrow but failing miserably
"Do you know who we are?!" Both me and Alice said at the same time
And he nodded his head in response
"so why did you cut me of in the middle of my sentence?"
"cause... Your just high-schoolers. Nothing special" he said before looking down at his phone
"true" me and Alice both said
