I couldn't understand why River was ignoring me. It had been a week since we had our last interaction... Which was you know what and ever since then, she seemed to be avoiding me like the plague. I tried to talk to her multiple times during school, but every time I approached her, she would either walk away or pretend she didn't see me. It was driving me crazy, and I needed answers.

I decided to confront her one last time, determined to get to the bottom of things. I made my way over to where River was sitting in the school courtyard, and before she could escape, I cleared my throat, "River, can we talk for a minute?"

She looked up at me, her expression unreadable. "I don't really have anything to say to you right now, Melanie."

Her words stung, and I felt my heart sink. "But why are you ignoring me? What did I do to make you act this way?"

River let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through her hair. "It's not about you, Melanie. It's about me. I have a lot going on right now, and I just need some space."

I felt a wave of relief wash over me, knowing that it wasn't something I had done to upset her. But at the same time, I couldn't help but feel angry that she couldn't act like an adult and come tell me whats going on than ignoring me.

"I understand that you need space, River. But you have to tell me. You made me feel and look stupid after what happened last week"

River looked at me for a moment, her eyes softening. "I know, Melanie. I just... I don't want to talk about it." She stood up, grabbing her bag. "I need to go. I'll see you later, okay?"

I watched as River walked away, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to her behavior, something she wasn't telling me. But for now, I had to respect her boundaries and give her the space she needed.

The rest of the day passed in a blur, my mind consumed with thoughts of River and our strained relationship. As I walked home, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled in my chest. I needed to do something to take my mind off things, to distract myself from the worries that plagued my mind.

I decided to call my friend, Sophia, and see if she wanted to hang out. Thankfully, she was free, and we decided to meet up at our favorite cafe in town. As we sat down with our drinks, Sophia noticed the troubled expression on my face.

"What's wrong, Melanie? You look like you've got something weighing on your mind."

I let out a sigh, deciding to confide in her about the situation with River. "She's been ignoring me for the past week, and I don't know why. She says it's nothing , but I can't help but feel like there's something she's not telling me."

Sophia listened intently, nodding in understanding. "girl, I don't understand why you in her business tho, yall aren't even friends like that.but Maybe she's going through something ."

I was silent because she had a point but I was hurt that River would just fuck me and leave then not talk to me

I guess Sophia saw my facial expression.

Sophia reached out and grasped my hand, her expression sympathetic. "I know it's hard, Mel. But sometimes, all we can do is be patient and give the other person the space they need. And if and when River is ready to talk, you'll be there for her."

Even tho I didn't tell Sophia anything about me and River she still knew just what to say

Her words resonated with me, and I felt a sense of calm wash over me. Maybe Sophia was right. Maybe River just needed some time to sort through her thoughts and emotions before she he felt ready to talk to me. .

As I finished my drink and said goodbye to Sophia, I made a promise to myself to be patient and understanding with River.

But my insecurities clowded my mind cause what if Im just a fling to River what if she doesn't actually have feelings for me.

I began to think that maybe Im bothering her so I'll just back of a bit even tho I want answers
