Seeing Zac was inevitable considering we both had first period together. Little did I know I also shared first period with Ilianna so I was able to avoid Zac "naturally" instead of sitting there in silence.

"Hey, I didn't know you were in my class," I said to Ilianna who was ironically sitting behind me.

"Oh hey, aren't you Amanda from the party?"

"Yeah,"

"Cool. I heard you left in a hurry,"

"Yeah, had somewhere I needed to be,"

"Cassie told me you were ride though..and you left her-,"

"Yeah I know,"

"At the party," Ilianna finished clearly not caring that I interrupted her sentence.

"But it's okay," she continued. "I just know not to ask for a ride from you," she joked..I think, smiling.

"I didn't drive myself home,"

"Oh, who did?"

"N-," maybe I should be more careful about what I say. Now that I think about it, anyone could be I_Know_It_All101.

"Nice neighbors," I lied. She looked at me for a moment probably detecting my hesitation, but nodded her head anyway.

"Hey Kiakimé, hi Niall," I greeted them as I sat at their table next to Kiakimé.

"Hello Amanda, I see you decided to sit with us today," Kiakimé welcomed.

"Yeah, wanted to make a change," I lied and I saw from the corner of my eye, Zac looking back at me, then to the direction he was walking to his old table.

"What's wrong with Zac again?" Niall asked.

"Not sure," I answered.

"Then why are you guys not talking to each other?" Kiakimé asked joining the mystery problem.

"Um.."

"No offense, but you guys are acting like middle schoolers. This is high school, and in high school you have to learn how to solve your problems, and if how to solve it is by walking away, then at least you tried," Kiakimé said then took a celery stick, stuck it in peanut butter and took a bite. (Yes, she packed lunch).

"Wow, you have good advice. Like Niall,"

"I'm pretty sure he gets it from me," she said confidently and Niall gave her a little nudge.

"I'm pretty smart on my own sometimes," he smiled.

"No you're not," she replied and Niall gave a small quick laugh looking away.

Me: Hey

Jerk 🙄: So now you want to talk to me

Me: Look, I'm sorry I ignored you at school today

Jerk 🙄: What's your problem I didn't even do anything

Me: This is a lot to text so can we talk in person?

Jerk 🙄: I'm busy I'll talk to you..maybe later

I called him once and the phone rang and rang until it took me to voicemail. I tried again, same outcome.

Me: You can't just ignore my calls I know you got it

Minutes pasted and no reply.

Don't think this is over. I will talk to you about this.

~

Before first period started I went to Zac's locker so I could yell him face to face.

"I know you got my calls! Why did you ignore me!" I started and Zac closed his locker.

"I said I was busy, plus I was upset and didn't feel like talking at the moment,"

"Just because you're upset doesn't mean you can just not talk to me! I'm trying to fix this and you're not helping!"

"Not talk to you? Isn't that the same thing you did to me the other day?" His voice was strong and somewhat intimidating, but I wasn't backing down. I had to let it all out.

"I have a reason to! Everything has been building up ever since the party-!"

"You mean the one where you called me annoying and stormed off?"

"Exact same one where I saw you sucking faces with Brittany!" I yelled and Zac took my arm and led me outside of the school with less people around.

"You don't need to be yelling that kind of stuff in the middle of the hallway," he said sternly.

"And you don't need to be kissing other girls in random corners of the room!"

"Who gave you the right to walk up in here and tell me what to do with my life,"

"The same person who you called sweetheart everyday! The same person who dealt through all this bullshit with this mystery I know it all Twitter bitch! The same person who lost a friend because I was taking your dumbass side! You got me fucked up saying who do I think I am! I'm trying to help you!"

"Well maybe I don't want your help!" He yelled at me and was stunned.

"You don't know who the hell I am Amanda. All these things started to happen the moment you stepped foot in this school. And you dare to tell me how to live my life?" He had calmed down, his voice back stern. "You had problems at your old school, and you brought your problems here. You have no room to talk."

It was silent. I took a moment to take in everything that happened. Everything that was said.

"I thought coming to talk to you would help," I said calmly, but I held my emotions in.

"Someone once told me," I looked down, my voice starting to crack. (Stay strong Amanda). "That you shouldn't pay attention to things that's a waste of time to focus on,"

• Love's Like A Battlefield (14) •

"No, I don't pay much attention to those. It's just a waste of time to focus on,"

••

"So I won't," I said looking back up at him, my face unfazed. "Goodbye Zac," I finished and walked past him and into the school building.

Don't look back. Stay strong. Don't look back.

Well Zac and Amanda's conversation didn't end well. Does that mean it's over for Team Zac?
