Zander took the knights hand in his. He grazed his thumb over Jaksas thumb softly, his lips trembling as tears soaked his face. As the sun began to set, Zanders eyes stung. Why was this to happen?

The princes throat hurt, but he managed to calm his breathing. Unfortunately for him, his calm had to be ruined as he heard the bells ring outside.

Ting, ting, ting, ting....

The signal that someone in the castle had died. Zander whimpered. Now everyone knew. He couldn't find the strength to get up, nor tell Kass or Thomas what had happened. Zander sighed, letting his grip from the knights hand loosen. But, to his surprise, he found he couldn't pull his hand away. He tried again. Jaksa had a grip on him. He looked up to his face, hope flooding his chest like a tsunami.

"Jaksa?" He called, his voice weak and strained. He was so tired, yet now his beating heart fuelled him with so much energy he couldn't bring himself to even blink. He pulled his other hand and put it to Jaksas nose. There, he felt a very faint breath. Zander started to sob again, this time from shear joy. He quickly stood, leaning over the knight. "Oh my stars, he's alive!" He practically screamed. His yelling caused Sophia to rush in, checking if he was alright. Before she could ask Zander had told her to get the physician back. She gave a curt nod before hurrying away. The prince turned back to the knight. "You're going to be okay..." he huffed, already missing his snarky remarks. Jaksas eye brows trembled and Zander held his breath. After what felt like decades the physician came in, a concerned look on his wrinkled face.

"Sire?what's going on?" Zander didn't respond. He continued to stare at the knights face intensely.

"Please..please..." he whispered.

"Sire...?" Guiana asked again, coming up behind the prince slowly. He paused when he saw how Jaksas hand twitched, then his mouth. "My stars.. it's a miracle!" He gasped.

Jaksas eyes slowly opened. His green eyes were still dull, but the colour was slowly returning to his face. "Zander..?"He responded Horsley. Zander wailed and jumped at his friend, trapping him in a hug. Zander continued to cry while Jaksa was barely awake.

"What...what's happening?" he asked.

"Well, you were dead, and you're still in bad condition. I'll come up later to give you medicine to help with... what ever is happening." The physician still looked shocked, and a little suspicious.

"Thanks..."

The physician bowed, then left the two alone. Zander still clinging desperately to Jaksa suddenly fell still. "Zander..?" the knight whispered. The prince shuffled slightly, now fast asleep. Jaksa huffed a laugh and leaned his head back.

The last thing he remembered was flopping on the bed, taking a drink, then falling asleep. He looked towards the cup, finding it empty and dry like nothing was ever there. He'd have to ask about it when the prince woke up. He looked down to sleeping friend and smiled. He felt at peace for the first time in ages.
