Kat stared at the message that she's been ignoring since this morning.

Suddenly, a knock on her door interrupted the silence with her brother's voice. "How are you feeling?" he asked concerned,.

"not so well," Kat admitted. "I think I might have caught something," she lied.

Noah's gaze bore into her, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions. "Oh, are you sure it has nothing to do with you liking my girlfriend?" he snapped, his words slicing through the air like a sword.

Kat's heart skipped a beat, her breath catching in her throat. "What? What do you mean? Who said that?" she stammered, her mind racing with fear and uncertainty.

"Save it, Kat. I know what's going on," Noah stated, his tone harsh.

A wave of panic washed over Kat as she realized the truth. She couldn't hide anymore, not from Noah, not from herself.

"I'm sorry," she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. "I never wanted this to happen."

Noah remained silent but his eyes revealed his disappointment.

"How do you know?" Kat asked, her voice trembling with fear.

"So it is true," Noah breathed out, his words heavy with sorrow.

Kat nodded guiltily. She felt horrible. "I'm sorry, Noah. I will cut her off, I promise. I was just confused, I think. I don't know what's wrong with me."

"I saw you guys yesterday. Heart part of your conversation before you almost kissed." Noah confessed, his voice hinted pain. "But I think... I already knew before. I was just in denial."

"What do you mean?" Kat asked confused.

"Ever since you and Billie stopped hating each other, I've felt like a third wheel in my own relationship." Noah paused and Kat stayed silent. "I could see the way you looked at each other, you weren't very subtle."

Tears escaped Kat's eyes now as she listened to Noah's words, "Please don't hate me, Noah," she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper.

Noah paused for a moment, his gaze softening. "I don't hate you, Kat," he said gently. "You can't choose the way you feel. But it still sucks obviously and I just wish you'd talked to me before."

Kat nodded, her heart heavy. "I think I didn't realize myself how I felt. I mean, she's a girl, Noah. What am I going to tell Mom and Dad? That I'm gay now? They're going to kick me out, they have my whole life planned out already. And now I'm gay? I can't have that."

"I'm sure they will love you either way, Kat," Noah reassured her, his voice filled with empathy. "But I hope you understand, I need a bit of distance for now to figure this all out by myself. I'd also appreciate if you'd stop talking to Billie for now," he explained firmly.

Kat nodded whipping away the tears on her cheek. "I understand," she whispered  "I'll cut her off,"

The bell above the door jingled softly as Billie entered the cozy café, her heart hammering against her chest. She scanned the room until she spotted Noah sitting at a table near the window, his gaze fixed on the passing pedestrians outside. She approached him cautiously, her footsteps slow and hesitant.

"Hey," she greeted him softly as she slid into the chair opposite him.

Noah glanced up, his expression guarded. "Hey," he replied, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Billie swallowed heavily, preparing for what she was about to do. "I... I wanted to talk to you," she began, her voice faltering. She didn't exactly know what she was going to say, but she knew she had to break up with him for developing feelings for his sister.

Noah already had a suspicion what Billie wanted to talk about but he still wanted to hear the words come out of her mouth, letting her decide if they'll give it another shot or not.

Noah raised an eyebrow, "About what?" he asked, his tone clipped.

Billie hesitated, searching for the right words. "About us," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.

Noah's eyes narrowed as he studied her. "What about us?" he asked tensed.

Billie took a deep breath, "I think we need to break up," she said, her voice trembling.

Noah's grip tightening on his coffee cup. Even though he kind of saw it coming he was still disappointed it actually happened "What?" he exclaimed in disbelief.

"I'm sorry, Noah." Billie said quietly.

"Is it because of Kat?" he asked hurt, anger started building up that Billie choose his sister over him. He was disappointed, but not surprised.

"What?" Billie asked caught off guard.

"Is it because you have feelings for my sister," His voice sharp and accusingly.

Billie's heart sank  for a moment, she was at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond. "Noah I-" she paused looking for the right words. She couldn't deny the truth, not anymore.

"Cut it Billie I overhead your conversation yesterday. I guess I knew but I wanted to hear it from your mouth "

Billlies eyes widened in shock. "you heard us?"

Noah nodded.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

Noah shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping him. "I guess I was just hoping you'd choose me"  he said sadly. "but I think I've known for a while."

Billie signed. "I'm sorry Noah, I dont really understand my feelings either, I just know that I feel deeply for her for some reason and I can't keep denying it any longer. it's not fair to either one of us."

"how long," Noah asked sharply but his voice almost broke.

Billie shrugged with her shoulders guiltily. "I dont know. I guess it was always there, even way before us two met, but I always just pushed that feeling down" she replied truthfully.

"SO you just didn't care how I'd feel?" Noah said hurt.

Billie reached out, her hand hovering hesitantly over his. "Noah, I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice filled with remorse. "I do still care about you, but I can't help how I feel"

But Noah pulled away, his eyes blazing with anger. "I can't do this," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I think you should go," he said quietly, his tone final.

"okay." Billie said quietly as she got up to leave. "I just hope you know I never wanted to hurt you."
