(*Caleb's POV*)
Someone was knocking on the door, I looked at the time on the clock. 1:00 pm.
Mariah threw trash at me.
"Go answer the door." She said, throwing a can at my head.
I grabbed my bag of trash and dumped it on her head. We were having a trash fight.
There was a knock again.
"Coming!" I yelled
I opened the door as Mariah started throwing more trash at me.
"Hey what's up." I held out my hand to Justin, he was a friend from my old town.
"Justin?" Mariah was behind me. She looked like she was staring at a ghost.
"Mariah?" Justin seemed the same way.
I was confused.
"You two know each other?" I asked, looking from Justin to Mariah. Her face held no emotions.
"We used to date..." Justin said, trailing off.
"Used to." Mariah was whispering. She cleared her throat.
"I just remembered I have to go home." She began to grab her stuff and walked out the door.
"Let me drop you off." I told her, grabbing her arm.
"I can walk." She was leaving.
"Can we talk?" Justin was following her.
They were out of earshot but I knew something was going on by their gestures. A few minutes past and Mariah left. Justin came back after a while.
"What was that about?" I asked him, trying to be casual.
He shrugged his shoulders, he seemed distant, like he was reliving and old memory.
My phone buzzed and I checked it, text from Mariah
'Call me when he leaves.'
I replied back.
'Will do'
*****
(*Mariah's POV*)
Caleb answered the door, I could only see part of whoever was there but the figure seemed so familiar. I walked up behind Caleb to see who was standing there.
"Justin?" I asked softly.
I didn't mean to say it out loud. I was so shocked that he was here again, I missed him, my heart began to ache.
"Mariah?" He asked, he was surprised to see me. I almost lost it, I missed his voice and the way he said my name. He didn't change at all. He still had the same dark blue eyes that I seemed to get lost in. The same messy hair style that made him look innocent.
Memories came rushing back.
That time when he asked me to be his girlfriend.
Our first date.
Our first kiss.
Our first dance.
The first time he said he loved me.
"You two know each other?" It was Caleb who asked.
"We used to date..." Justin trailed off.
"Used to." My voice was barely a whisper, I felt tears coming on.
"I just remembered I have to go home." I said as I grabbed my stuff. Caleb offered to drop me off but I refused, I needed some air.
I walked out the door and Justin followed me.
"Can we talk?" He asked me, Caleb couldn't hear us, but he was looking our way.
"I don't have anything to say to you." I told him, but I had so much to say.
"I missed you" He said, trying to hold my hand, I folded my arms across my chest.
"You're the one that left." I said, my voice stayed leveled.
"You're the one that broke up with me." He retaliated.
"You knew my reason, you're the one that ran away without a good bye. You didn't even look back to see if I was ok, and guess what Justin. I wasn't ok. I'm NOT ok."
He stared at the ground, but I wasn't giving up. I need to say this, it might be my only chance.
"I loved you, I STILL love you." I told him. He looked up, hope in his eyes, but I wasn't done.
"But you don't love me anymore." I said, matter of factly.
"I still-" He started, I cut him off.
"If you still loved me, you would've called, you would've came back but you didn't." I stopped to shake my head. It took me a while to realize this, but I knew I was right.
"If you truly loved me and cared about me like how you said you did, you wouldn't have given up on us so easily. I TRIED to talk to you, but you never replied, you never called me back." I was crying now, and so was he.
"I'm sorry." He said, he was trying to hug me. I stepped back.
"Sorry isn't good enough." I told him, hoping it stung.
I walked away without a goodbye, leaving him there.
I stopped at the front door of my house and realized what I just did.
I smiled to myself. I never thought I could do it but I did. I finally got over Justin.
