(*Mariah's POV*)
"You are SO grounded young lady!!!" It was my mom, we just stepped into the house.
"This will be on your transcript!" My dad joined in on the lecture.
"What were you thinking Mariah?!?" My mom was getting really upset.
"I wasn't!" I lashed out.
I just got suspended from school AND Junior Prom. My parents want to GROUND me. I am NOT in the mood to take any crap.
My dad rubbed his forehead and sat down on the couch, suddenly looking older.
My mom did the same, and they both looked drain.
I kept standing.
"What happened?" My dad asked, almost afraid.
I swallowed and began my story.
"This girl and her friends were making fun of me." I started.
"What did they say?" My mom said, looking concerned.
"Nothing important." I said shrugging my shoulders.
I didn't want my parents getting involved in my problems.
"Jade defended me and the girl slapped her in the face, then she started pulling Jade by her hair. I tried to break it up, but the girl punched Jade in the face and she was unconscious. My emotions took over." I finished.
My mom shook her head.
"You're grounded." She said, tears in her eyes.
"Isn't being suspended from school grounding enough?" I said, not in the mood.
My dad put his arm around my mom's shoulder. She leaned into him and my heart ached.
I remember when Justin used to do that to me.
"No T.V or computer for this week." My dad said.
I nodded.
At least I still have my phone, and they didn't say anything about not going out with friends.
I walked into my room and laid down on my bed, trying to relax.
I sighed as someone knocked on my door.
"Coming." I shouted.
I got up from bed and opened the door. Jade was standing there with a big smile on her face.
I smiled a little. "What?" I asked her, already knowing why she was here.
"I have a plan." She said as she walked into my room.
She put a paper on my bed, I looked closer to see it was the Prom Flyer.
I gave her a questioning look.
She rolled her eyes impatiently.
"Read the theme!" She said.
"Masquerade. Ok?" I said clueless, I didn't know where this was going.
"Masquerade. Masks!" She yelled.
I was trying to put the pieces together.
She sighed in exasperation.
"We're gonna sneak in!" She whispered loudly.
"How?" I asked, not convinced.
"People won't recognize us when we go in." She said, getting impatient again.
"Because we'll have masks!" I said, finally catching on.
"Shopping date Thursday. I'll pick you up at 3." She said walking out.
"Call me!" I told her as she walked out.
"Don't tell anyone The Plan." She whispered as she left.
I smiled.
No one knows that Jade and I are crashing Junior Prom...
