(*Caleb's POV*)
"You ok?" I asked Mariah, she seemed distant.
"No, I'm not." She said, looking away.
"Wanna talk about it?" I asked, grabbing her hand.
She looked into my eyes."Would you get upset if I said I still have feelings for Justin?" She asked, biting her lip.
"It depends, do you?" I asked.
She looked away and shrugged."I don't know." She whispered.
I nodded slowly.
"So I'm the 'new guy' here." I said jokingly, she smiled but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Could you fill me in with this whole thing between you and Justin?" I asked hesitantly.
She pulled her hand away from mine and put it in her lap, looking out the window.
She took a while but she finally told me.
"It was the last day of freshman year." She whispered.
"Justin asked me to be his girlfriend, at first I hesitated, because of Tyler." She said, smiling slightly.
"But I said yes, and I never regretted it. We dated for one year and two months, then I broke it off." She finished.
I wasn't ready to give up.
"Why did you break it off?" I asked.
"Because I was confused about my feelings." She whispered.
"I loved Justin but I had feelings for Tyler. I felt like it wasn't fair for Justin so I broke it off but I never told Tyler the real reason." She told me.
"What happened afterwards?" I asked her.
"I loved Justin. But it was too late, he already left. I tried calling and texting him but he never replied or answered." She was crying now.
"I was so heart broken and I felt like trash, like all the things we went through and all the things he said weren't real. Like I didn't mean anything to him." She said, her voice was breaking.
I grabbed her hand and squeezed it gently.
"Justin was stupid for leaving. But I'm here now, and I'm here to stay." I told her, kissing her cheek.
She smiled sadly."I love you Caleb."
I pecked her softly on the lips."I love you too Mariah."
"Promise me something." She said, looking into my eyes.
"What?" I asked, playing with her hair.
"Promise me you won't tell Justin." She whispered.
"I promise."
Justin has no idea how much damage he did to Mariah, and that fact pisses me off...
