(*Mariah's POV*)

The tapping stopped, and I heard the lock on the window unlatch. I grabbed the closest thing to me, my pillow, and used it as a weapon. Whoever was at my window slipped in and I started hitting them with my pillow.

"Ow! Ow! It's me! Mariah It's me!" Caleb was shouting.

I stopped hitting him and turned my light on.

"What are you doing here?!?" I whispered loudly.

I heard my parents door open.

"Hide!" I mouthed to him as I shoved him in my closet.

I turned my light off and hopped into bed. Too late.

"Are you ok? We thought we heard a noise." My parents sounded worried.

"Um I'm fine, I was just dreaming." I answered, trying to make my voice sound tired.

"OK, good night sweetie." They closed the door behind them and turned off my light. I waited until I heard their door closed, then I let Caleb out.

"What are you doing here?" I whispered to Caleb as he stepped out of my closet.

"I couldn't sleep" He said sheepishly, shrugging his shoulders.

He looked around my room, and I knew he was smirking.

My room is painted purple, I have a twin sized bed filled with all my stuffed animals and at the corner where my window was, there was a night light. I can't sleep with total darkness.

I cleared my throat. "Why couldn't you sleep?" I asked him, as we walked to my bed.

"Because I need to know why you didn't want to kiss me?" He said. From the night lights shine I could see his green eyes sparkling.

"Is it that big of a deal?" I asked him

"You're the first girl that rejected my kiss..." He said, embarrassed.

I smiled to myself, I'm pretty sure Caleb has kissed tons of girls.

"If I tell you, promise me you won't get mad."

He nodded eagerly.

I took a deep breath. "You remind me of Justin. You and him are alike. You both have that bad boy appearance and then when its just you and me, you change, and I'm done dealing with boys like that. I want someone who will be whoever they are, with me or not."

He nodded his head, letting it soak in.

"Can I tell you the truth?" He asked

I nodded, waiting.

"When I first met you, I never thought you were pretty. At first you were a game to me, but now that I got to know you for who you are, I know that you're beautiful. and I think I'm in lov-" I cut him off with my hand.

"Please don't say it." I whispered, putting my hands over my ears and shaking my head.

"Mariah, what's wrong?" He seemed concerned.

I've been through too much in one day, and I canNOT have another person telling me they're in love with me.

"Nothing." I told him, trying to sound convincing.

He looked at me with those piercing green eyes, and at that moment I wanted to kiss him. Not because of what he said, but because over the past few months that we've known each other, he changed for the better.

I leaned into him, hesitantly, he did the same, unsure of what we were doing.

"I can't do this." I whispered to him.

"It's ok." He told me, leaning away from me.

"Will you stay with me?" I asked him, wrapping my arms around his waist.

"I don't think that's a good idea." He whispered, chuckling.

I nodded, understanding.

He walked towards my window and paused. He turned around.

"Mariah?" His voice was barely a whisper.

"Yeah?" I said, walking towards him.

He held my hand and looked me in the eyes.

"I love you." He whispered as he leaned into me.

"I love you too." My voice was barely a whisper as I waited for him to kiss me.

Right before he could kiss my lips, he converted his mouth to my cheek, pecking me there.

I brought my hand to my cheek where he kissed me, he smiled.

I felt his hand slipping away from mine, I squeezed it gently, telling him I didnt want him to leave. He returned the squeeze and went out my window and into the night...
