(*Mariah's POV*)

My mouth was hanging open as I stared at my last test.

"An F!" I whispered loudly to Jade who got a C on her test.

"Wow. And I thought you were the smart one." Caleb said, looking over to my paper. He got a D which was still better than what I got.

"Maybe your hanging out with your boyfriend too much." He continued, smirking at me.

"Boyfriend?" I asked incredulously.

"He's talking about Tyler." Jade answered, taking out her phone.

"Is that his name? The one who's madly in love with you?" Caleb asked me, he was laughing now.

"What's so funny?" I asked, my cheeks getting warm.

"The fact that you don't see it..." Jade mumbled under her breath.

I pretended not to hear it, but I did, and it bothered me, how Jade thought this and she knew Tyler and I are just friends.

"Who are you texting?" I said, changing the subject and grabbing at her phone.

The contact name said "BaBe"

"Who's babe?" I said, smiling now.

I saw Jade look over at Caleb and back at her phone.

She cleared her throat. "No one" she said, grabbing her phone back.

I looked over at Caleb who seemed hurt by the fact that Jade has a contact named "Babe"

Oops. I thought to myself.

*****

(*Caleb's POV*)

I can't believe this. Jade has a boyfriend, and to think that we were about to be exclusive. She played with my heart.

Mariah just HAD to go and grab Jade's phone and read out the contact name.

But would you rather have never found out? I asked myself, I shook my head. It was better to find out now then never.

Snap out of it Caleb. This is why you never fall in love, this is why you never get into a serious relationship.

As the bell rang, I headed towards the door, but I couldn't help but overhear Mariah talking to the teacher about her grade, so I hung back for a little.

"Please Mrs. Fuller, I NEED to pass this class if I want to be a senior next year." I heard her say.

"I'm sorry Mariah, but the Final Exam is 2 weeks from now, if you don't pass, then I guess I'll be seeing you again next year." And that was that.

"Wait" I said as Mariah left class. I grabbed her arm until she stopped walking.

"What do you want Caleb?" She said, her voice quivering.

"I want to help you study for the final exam."

"And how are you gonna do that? You got a D on the test."

"Yeah and you got an F." I said being cocky about it.

"I REALLY don't like you, so thanks for the offer but no thanks." She began to walk away, I walked after her.

"You don't even know me." I challenged her.

"I know enough not to like you." She said walking away, this time I didnt grab her arm. That was like a slap in the face, those words dug deep. All this time I thought she just found me annoying but really, she never liked me.

That can change, you know the game better than she does, you can make her like you, I told myself. I smirked to myself.

Game on Mariah.
