Sera sat on the edge of the couch, her gaze fixed on the dancing flames in the fireplace. "I wished I told you I loved you before I lost you," she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of sadness.

Darian, seated beside her, reached out and took her hand in his. "I should have done more to protect you," he admitted, his voice heavy with regret. "I never imagined something like this could happen."

Sera turned to him, her eyes searching his for reassurance. "It's not your fault, Darian," she said firmly. "We'll find a way through this, together."

As they sat in silence, the weight of their shared grief hanging heavy in the air, Darian felt a knot form in his stomach. He knew he had to tell her the truth.

"Sera," he began, his voice hesitant. "There's something I need to tell you."

Sera looked at him, curiosity and concern flickering in her eyes. "What is it?" she asked, her voice gentle.

Darian took a deep breath, steeling himself for her reaction. "I'm not just a businessman," he confessed. "I'm also the head of a mafia."

Sera's eyes widened in shock, her mind reeling with disbelief. "What?" she exclaimed, unable to comprehend what she had just heard.

Darian reached out and took her hands in his, his gaze never leaving hers. "I know it's a lot to take in," he said softly. "But I needed you to know the truth."

Sera stared at him, her mind racing with a thousand questions. "Why didn't you tell me before?" she asked, her voice trembling with emotion.

Darian sighed, his heart heavy with regret. "I wanted to protect you," he admitted. "But now, more than ever, I need you to understand who I am and what I do."

As they sat together in the quiet of the room, the weight of Darian's confession hanging between them, Sera felt a sense of uncertainty wash over her. She didn't know what the future held, but one thing was certain: their lives would never be the same again.

Sera, her initial shock fading, couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh. "Well," she said with a wry smile, "I guess I married into more than I bargained for."

Darain, attempting to lighten the mood, quipped, "Guess I should update our wedding vows to include 'till death do us part, or until the mafia gets involved."

Sera, with a mischievous glint in her eye, remarked, "So, are you one of those gray characters from the books? Touch my wife, and you'll be the next plot twist."

Darian chuckled softly, his voice tinged with amusement. "Oh, you've seen it today, my love. But let's just say, the show's not over yet."

There is a knock on the door revealing
Caleb, Katherine, Vincent, Dominic, and Elena approached, Darian turned to them with a sense of relief.

"Sera, allow me to introduce you to my trusted colleagues. This is Caleb, our tech expert, Katherine, the strategist extraordinaire, Vincent, our logistics guru, Dominic, our field agent, and Elena, our communications specialist."

Sera offered a grateful smile, acknowledging each of them with a nod. "Thank you all for your efforts. I'm truly grateful to be safe."

Katherine couldn't resist teasing. "You should have seen Darian when we found out you were missing. He was losing his mind!" She grinned mischievously. "Destroyed his office and drove for the first time since his parents' death!"
