"Hello princess."
"Hello Barry." Davina answered kissing Barristans cheek. "Let the king compete please. It will look like an accident. Put gregor up against him. No one will blame gregor. He has a temper."
"Yes it is Bad luck for anyone going against the Mountain.' Barristan agreed. "Lord Stark..."
"Ser Barristan. Lady Davina." Ned answered. Davina glanced down at the dead man. Gregor was a killer she never really cared who he killed because she didn't care about many people in the capital. Ned clearly cared.
'Who determines the draw?' Ned questioned
'All the knights draw straws.' Barriston told him.
'Who holds the straws?" Ned pondered. Barristan sighed glancing to the brokem body. "You've done good work sisters,' ned said as they cleaned up the dead knight.
'Life is strange not so many years ago we fought as enemies at the trident.' Barriston remarked. Davina smiled but quickly frowned. That battle. When her brother still lived and she thought like a foolish little girl that they were all safe. Barristan would come back and rhaegar too. Everyone would be fine. She would see her mother and younger siblings again instead reality hit her like dragons breath.
She used to wish for dragons. Tyrion did too. It was something they bonded over. They were both outcasts in the capital.
'I'm glad we never met on the field Ser barriston.' Ned remarked.
'You are too modest I've seen you cut down a dozen red knights.' Barriston informed him.
"You two used to be young and agile?" Davina mused. "A dozen red knights? Did you need a bit of help from some witches? Tonics and whatnot to keep up your energy?"
"Dont mind the princess," barristan requested. "She is a sassy one." Davina gave Ned a cheeky grin.
'My father once told me you were the best he's ever seen. I never knew the man to be wrong about matters of combat.' Ned told them both. Davina smiked back at barristan.
"Hes still pretty good." Davina agreed. "Right commander?"
'He was a fine man, your father... bad business with the king though it was a terrible crime.'' His voice got lower
"Mad king. You can say it. My father lost his damn mind. But we didnt all need to die for it." Davina added marching off.
"Princess-" barristan reached for her but she kept walking.
"Should you go after her?" Ned questioned.
"No. She just needs a moment. She is a special young woman." Barristan remarked.
"Im starting to see that." Ned agreed. 'That knight was a squire up until a few months ago... how can you afford a suit of armor?' Ned questioned as they walked.
'Perhaps his Lord had left him some money? I heard that the king wants to joust today.' Barriston added.
'That will never happen.' Ned countered watching davinas path get blocked by Gregor.
'The king tends to do what he wants.' Barristan said too knowingly.
''If the king got what he wanted all the time we would still be fighting a rebellion.' Ned corrected
"And davina would be dead." Barristan agreed. "I suppose he doesnt always get what he wants."
"You lost." Davina said with as little sass as possible
"Fucker cheated." Gregor grumbled.
"You did good." Davina shrugged.
"Whats wrong?" Gregor barked.
"Nothing. Just thinking." Davina mumbled.
"Whats wrong?"
"Im thinking!" Davina shouted. "You should try it sometimes ogre." She suggested ramming into him before marching off with a sore shoulder. She heard his heavy footfalls following after her.
"You gonna compete tomorrow?"
"No." Gregor corrected. Davina stopped and he stumbled into her. She soun around glaring and he took a single step back. She stared up at him a moment longer before continuing on her way.
"Why not?"
"Cheaters." Gregor answered
"So? You gonna let the cheaters win?"
"What happened to the rose?"
"What rose?"
"Dont play dumb." Gregor muttered.
"Oh the pretty one from the pretty boy."
"The fucking cock sucking cheater." Gregor growled out. Davina put a hand up.
"Stop shouting. You are creating an earthquake." Davina instructed calmly. "I dont give a damn about Loras Tyrell. Everyone knows he is fucking Renly. Calm yourself." Gregor let out a long slow breath. "You good?"
"Great." He grumbled
"Lady davina..." ned interrupted. Gregor snarled back at him but Davina turned on the charm.
"Hello lord hand. Looking as dashing as always."
"I wanted to check on you."
"Very kind of you Ned. I'm perfectly fine as a person trapped like a prisoner in their own home can be." Davina agreed.
"Then maybe i tell you something that would make you smile." Ned suggested.
"Yes please." Davina agreed. Gregor rolled his eyes.
"The king doesnt fit into his breast plate".
"That's because hes a fat lazy dickhead." Davina answered. Ned shook his head but a smile tugged at his lips. "Thanks Ned that did make me smile."
