Another big rush of air rushed through, it knocked all of the fire benders down on the snowy ground. Zuko stood up and started to attack Aang, fire came out from his hands and his foot, Aang was quick to dodge them thanks to his bending powers. Zuko stood in front of Aang while everyone surrounded them, it was quiet until the kids started to throw rocks and sticks at the bad men.
Phoenix watched with a huge smile on her face, she was glad that the kids knew how to defend themselves. Zuko got mad, real mad "Enough games, burn the whole place to the ground" Zuko ordered, the men behind him had fire on their palms, Phoenix got mad and stopped closer to the dangerous men "stop it, Zuko." Her hands were balled up tightly, her knuckles started to turn white "Why should I?" Zuko eyes landed on her green ones "You really want to kill children? How pathetic can you be?" With her harsh words, Zuko got even angrier. Both gave intense stares at each other until Aang spoke up "Stop! Stop!" Zuko finally took his eyes off Phoenix to looked over at Aang.
"I'll go with you, just leave them alone." Phoenix turned around to look at the arrow boy, he was giving himself up. "I'm the one you're looking for." Phoenix had a small frown, she felt bad for Aang, he was in so much danger. "Wait!" Katara ran out from her hiding place, Sokka grabbed his sister so she couldn't get close. "It's okay Katara. No one has ever fought for me before." Aang's eyes went to Sokka's "I think you're the bravest person I've ever met" Sokka couldn't help the smile from forming on his face.
Aang turned around, he saw Phoenix "And you... even though you are a fire bender, I think you're pretty cool for helping the water tribe." Phoenix's frown turned upside down into a smile, she was thankful for his words. Aang walked to the direction of the fire benders and turned himself in "We'll come back for you once were done with the avatar." Zuko threatened before he left the water tribe for good.
Phoenix ran to her igloo that she's been living in, she grabbed a big black bag and started to pack her stuff, she didn't want anyone else in danger just because she lived in the water tribe. She got a black box that was on an icy desk, she slowly opened the lid and it revealed a orange and red necklace that was shaped into a fire flame. Zuko gave her it when she finished her first training session, it was a congratulatory type of gift.
She closed her green eyes and focused on her bending, she wanted to burn the necklace. She hated Zuko, she didn't understand why he changed into an evil person, maybe he father did something. Before a flame could come out of her hand, Katara walked in the igloo "hey" her soft voice interrupted Phoenix, she quickly put the necklace into the box and shove it in the black bag "hey" she spoke back. "w-what are you doing?" Katara questioned, she saw the big bag laying on the floor and it looked heavy. "Packing up. Sokka's right, I don't belong here" Phoenix sadly said "I made great friends with you guys" Phoenix smiled "But I don't think I should stay." Katara took steps and got closer to the ginger "Forget Sokka, he's an idiot." Katara laughed "I think you're pretty cool, I mean yeah you're a fire bender but... you're different from them, believe me I've seen you help around." Phoenix looked down at her black boots with a small smile
"I think you should come with us." Phoenix looked up from the floor with a confusion expression "where?" She asked her "Me and Sokka are going to get Aang back, wanna come along with us?" Phoenix wanted to say yes, she thought it would be fun yet interesting "But Sokka-" Katara shook her head "Forget him. He won't hurt you, not on my watch" They both smiled at each other "okay fine, i'll come along" Katara clapped her gloved hands in happiness "Okay! Sokka is on Appa right now, so you should pack and follow me."
Phoenix grabbed everything she had in her igloo and put it in the large bag with everything else, she followed Katara outside and saw Appa, Sokka on top of him. "Why is she here?" Sokka complained as soon as he saw the fire bender "She's coming along with us" Katara simply answered "what? no! NO! She's a fire bender, shes dangerous" he yelled at his sister in disagreement "Shes not. She helped you with training the kids, built weapons and other things that are helpful." Katara tried to defend Phoenix "plus, she was born in the fire nation which means she probably knows something that we don't, it can help us on our journey." Sokka agreed back, eventually Sokka gave up "If she does something evil I won't hesitate to leave her somewhere, alone." Katara looked at Phoenix with a smile "Come on!" Katara rushed to Appa, Phoenix running after her.
After Katara got on Appa, Phoenix climbed her way on top of the furry creature. "Alright, time to find Aang!" Appa started to hover off the floor, then it begin to fly "Oh my God!" Sokka screamed, he was terrified. Phoenix smiled while the wind blew across her face, her hand on slowly petting Appa's white, soft fur as he flew. "This is so cool!" Phoenix yelled because the wind was loud and so was Sokka's screaming "There he is!" Katara pointed to the big ship that had gray smoke coming out from the top, it was the fire nations ship.
Appa flew down to the boat, a small figure was falling down towards the water "I think that's Aang!" Phoenix shouted, Katara controlled Appa and went to the boy, luckily Sokka grabbed Aang's hand before he fell in the cold water "Gotcha" Sokka held on tightly on Aang's hand, but before he could bring Aang to safety, a big ball of fire aimed direction to them. "Katara do something!" Phoenix begged, she was the only one who had water bending powers. Katara was quick to stop the fire when a wave of water blew the fire out "that was a quick one" Phoenix sighed in relief.
"Can't believe you guys saved me! Thank you!" Aang said happily once he made in onto Appa's back "how could we leave the avatar?" Phoenix asked, Aang smiled at her "The fire benders aren't gonna give up. They're gonna keep coming after you" Sokka glanced at Phoenix, he still didn't trust her. "why are you looking at me like that?" Phoenix caught the man staring "Because you could be a spy" Phoenix scrunched her eyebrows "me? That's funny." She rolled her green eyes "being a fire nation spy is funny?" Sokka asked, he started to get mad "you two knock it off" Katara spoke up.
"where do we go now? We can't go back home, it'll put everyone in danger" Katara asked "I know where... The Southern Air Temple."
