Phoenix held onto the leather saddle that was on Appa as he flew, the winged lemur followed Appa "look who's following us" Phoenix looked at the strange creature "you wanna join us Momo?" Aang asked  "momo?" Sokka asked, Mom flew onto Aang's arm "Yeah. He looks like a momo, doesn't he?" Phoenix leaned over so she could pet the creature, Momo leaned into her touch while making noises "I bet you taste like chicken" Momo looked at Sokka in worry after he had said that.

Phoenix called over Momo in a high pitch voice "Momo, come here" She snapped her fingers, the winged lemur looked over at her and slowly made his way to her lap "hi buddy" She gently stroked the white fur on his back "careful, she might burn you" Sokka told the animal, Momo looked scared before relaxing once more. "Sokka stop being stubborn" She rolled her eyes "I'm not being stubborn. I just don't want to get burned from a fire bender." He rudely replied, Phoenix ignored him.

"there she is" In front was a large statue of Avatar Kyoshi between a pile of trees. A few seconds later Appa landed on the hard ground, Phoenix was careful to get off of the furry back. Phoenix walked to the tall statue, in Kyoshi's hands were her fans and a long dress. Sokka went up to the door "I wouldn't go in there if I was you." Phoenix told him "Why should I listen to you?" He asked before opening the door and going inside

The tree leaves started to ruffle, meaning someone were behind it "what the hell?" Phoenix question before her arms were pulled back from a tight grip, surrounding here were a group of women with pale faces, red eyeliner and red lips. "Get off of me!" Phoenix yelled at the women from behind, she tried to escape but couldn't do so. "Sokka!" Katara called out for her older brother "what?" He came out from the wooden door, until a women with short hair knocked him down "You are trespassing on sacred grounds!" She explained the situation  before grabbing Sokka up.

"Stop! You're making a mistake! He's the avatar!" Katara pleaded with them to let go "Ridiculous. There would have been signs if he was the avatar" The one holding Sokka said, right after Avatar Kyoshi's statue started to glow in bright white, "there's your sign. Let us go." Phoenix bit her lip as she talked. The women who wore the makeup walked them to the small village into a building, where an Old lady sat.

"sit down, please." The old woman gestured where they could sit, which was the floor. Phoenix sat down between Sokka and Katara "It's been a long time since we've had visitors, and for good reasons" In the building, multiple women were standing with their arms behind their backs, all had a similar appearance.

"For a hundred years, Kyoshi island has remained safe from the ravages of war by keeping to ourselves. We expect the outside world to do the same" Yukari finished talking "We're not here to cause any trouble." Aang started to speak, Phoenix turned her head to look at the boy "All I want is to learn more about Avatar Kyoshi. Isn't that what this place is about? Keeping her memory alive?" Katara decided to speak up afterwards "we're not a threat" She said, making Sokka sigh "Maybe not. But the next visitors might be. We can't start making exceptions."  Phoenix shook her head in disappointment when Yukari said those few words,

"We're not just any visitors. He's the avatar" "according to you and a few reflections off a statue." Phoenix looked around the building, noticing one of the women with the painted face was staring at Sokka, weird enough, but Sokka wasn't paying any attention to her. Aang started to speak and tried his hardest to let Yukari let him and his friends stay, Suki knelt down at ear level so she could speak to Yukari. "I think it worked" Phoenix quietly said to Aang "Or they'll kick us out" Sokka added on.

Phoenix watched the young women speak to her mother in silence, she nervously fiddle with her fingers. Suki stood back up straightly with her hands behind her back "I'm reminded that Kyoshi herself often benefited from the kindness of strangers, and as the avatar, she believed in helping those who could not help themselves. So we will open our village to our guests for 48 hours" Phoenix couldn't help but smile from happiness, it was all thanks to the stranger. "I trust that you will respect the limits of our generosity" Phoenix nodded her head in response. "you may be dismissed."

Phoenix got up from the ground and went over to Suki "hey, look I know we came here unwelcome but I want to say thanks for letting us stay" Suki had a small smile on her face "No problem, just don't create any harm."

I'll admit, writing an avatar fan fiction is SO MUCH HARDER than writing another live action adaptation. I'm sorry if this is bad :(  (currently hating my writing)
