After a fantastic meal cooked by Alfred, Bruce convinced Barbara and Dick to stay the night.

"It's already dark, and Bludhaven is 2 hours away." Bruce had urged.

After they agreed, the group talked a bit. Jobs, weather, crime, etc. Soon, Barbara was yawning, so Dick took her hand and they went up to bed.

Bruce retired to his room too, and Gemma was left alone with Tim. His playful blue eyes tried to find Gemma's grey ones. Gemma pulled her dark blonde hair away from her face and looked up at Tim.

"I'm really glad you decided to stay..." Tim blushed.

"Me too." Gemma sighed.

"R-really?" Tim was taken back.

Gemma nodded.

"Are you ready to start school tomorrow?" Tim asked.

"No. I've never gone to a real school." Gemma explained.

"Really? Well, don't be nervous, I'll show you around."

Tim could normally read people's emotions pretty easily, but Gemma's were always a mystery. Her storm colored eyes were impossible to read.

Gemma smiled, thankful that she wouldn't be completely alone.

Tim smirked.

"What?" Gemma asked.

"I figured out where Alfred hides the pie."

Gemma's eyes grew large and a smile curled onto her lips.

"Then why are we still standing here? BRING ON THE PIE."

Tim took Gemma's hand (which shocked Gemma) and they snuck over to the kitchen.

"Remind me WHY Alfred hides pie?" Gemma whispered.

"Because it's addictive and flawless." Tim said, trying to imitate Tim Gunn from Project Runway.

Giggling quietly, Gemma walked with Tim, hand in hand.

They tip toed up to a cabinet, and Tim stopped.

"Watch this." He grinned.

Instead of pulling open the cabinet door, Tim pulled the whole cabinet. It opened up into a mini fridge, with five pies sitting in it.

Gemma's jaw dropped open.

"Which one should we take?" Tim turned to Gemma. He couldn't help but notice they were still holding hands.

"Hmm.... French silk!" Gemma decided.

Tim released Gemma's hand took the pie out of the secret fridge. Gemma grabbed 2 forks and they snuck off into one of the many rooms in Wayne Manor.

Sitting on an old couch, Gemma handed Tim one of the forks. Tim passed the pie over to Gemma, and she stuffed a forkful into her mouth.

"YUM." Gemma sighed.

"Told ya the pie was great." Tim smiled.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, just eating the pie.

"Let's play a game." Tim suggested.

"Ok... What kind of game?"

"I'll tell you something about me, then you tell me something about you."

"Sounds fun... You start."

"Let me think..." Tim started. "Well I figured out that Bruce was Batman and Dick was Robin when I was nine."

"Seriously?" Gemma whispered.

Tim nodded.

"Geez nerd!" Gemma teased.

"I prefer the term 'intellectual badass.'" Tim laughed. "You're turn."

"Ok... I'm a fangirl..." Gemma admitted.

"A fangirl? For what?" Tim questioned.

Gemma thought for a minute before replying, "Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, Kid Flash, and lots more." Gemma replied.

"Wait. Did you say Kid Flash?" Tim grinned mischievously.

"Yeah...." Gemma said.

"I might just know him." Tim replied.

Gemma blushed.

"she has a crush on Wally! Why?" Tim thought to himself.

"You're turn." Gemma said.

"I didn't want to become Robin at first." Tim looked down.

"Why not?" Gemma looked confused.

"Jason, the 2nd Robin had just died and Dick was off being Nightwing in Bludhaven and he refused to come back. I wasn't ready to handle all of it. The responsibility of being Robin was scary..." Tim said.

"But do you like being Robin now?" Gemma asked.

There was a long silence before Tim replied.

"I don't know. I want to help to innocent. I want to protect Gotham. But I will never be what Batman is."

"You don't need to be Batman, Tim."

"You don't understand, Gemma. I'm expected to be a smaller version of him. They expect so much and-"

Gemma cut him off by hugging him. Tim was shocked at first, but soon wrapped his arms around her in an embrace.

"We should go to bed. School tomorrow." Gemma sighed. "Thanks for the pie."

"It was a fun night." Tim said.

Gemma agreed and Tim led her up to her room. Gemma wouldn't ever admit it, but she had a knack for getting lost. Wayne Manor was just a huge maze for her.

Laying in her bed later that night, Gemma's mind couldn't stop thinking. What was Gotham Academy going to be like? What would happen to her? She knew Tim said he would help her, but what if he didn't have classes with her? What if she's too dumb? What if she's too smart? Gemma was panicking until all her worrying lulled her to sleep.

Her dad appeared in her dreams that night. His face wasn't scarred, both sides of his face looked the same.

"Gemma. Everything is going to be ok. Just carry on and you'll be ok. Nobody will hurt you now." Harvey Dent smiled.

The figure disappeared, and Gemma was dreamless the rest of the night.
