Chapter 13

Yay, another chapter!

Time for part of the Batfam to go meet up with Huntress (Helena)

Gemma woke up the next morning, quickly searched around to make sure Damian wasn't hiding in her room, and stretched.

She lumbered downstairs to find Jason and Steph already awake.

"Good morning." Stephanie smiled, and then smacked Jason's arm.

"Morning." Jason said.

"Your greetings still need work." Stephanie told Jason.

He only shrugged and kissed her cheek.

"So would you like to stop by and meet Helena? Then you can start your training." Steph asked.

"Of course. When should we leave?" Gemma replied.

"When you and Tim are ready." Jason answered.

Tim is coming? Huh.

Gemma ran back upstairs and woke up Tim.

"WAKE UP TIM!" Gemma shook him.

"Noooo..." Tim grumbled.

"Tim get up RIGHT NOW!"

Tim opened one eye and immediatly got up when he saw Gemma.

"Come on lazy." Gemma coaxed.

"Okay, okay. I'm up."

"Get dressed. We're going to visit Helena."

"Got it."

Gemma turned to leave, but stopped to say, "A Superman t-shirt? Really?"

"It's tradition." Tim grinned with his cheeky smile.

Gemma rolled her eyes and went back to her room to get dressed. She knew the Huntress's colors were purple, black, and white, so she slipped on a purple sweater, jeans, and her black converse.

Fixing her hair into a high ponytail, Gemma looked in the mirror and jumped in shock. There, standing the backround was Damian.

"Hello Dent."

"Uh... Hi, Damian...." Gemma immediatly freaked out, but tried to keep it all inside.

"If you think I'm going to let you stay here, you are mistaken."

"Umm... Excuse me?" Gemma was shocked. This kid was crazy.

"You heard me. You won't last long while I'm here."

Gemma knew she had about 2 seconds to come up with a witty response, when she remembered what Tim had said about Damian.

"He only likes 3 things; Cass, Supergirl, and kittens." Gemma heard Tim's voice in the back of her head.

"Cass wouldn't like that." Gemma retorted. "We're friends.

Damian looked taken back, but only for a second.

"Why would I care what Cassandra thinks?" Damian replied cooly.

"I know you have a little crush on her, Damian." Gemma smirked.

Damian cursed and walked away.

Feeling proud of herself, Gemma grabbed Tim from his room and they walked down together to meet Steph and Jason.

Jason drove the group through Gotham until they reached a small apartment complex.

A woman with wild, dark hair was waiting for them with a smirk on her face.

"So this is who wants to be the new Huntress. I must say, I'm flattered." The woman said with a smirk.

Helena Bertinelli.

The Huntress.

Gemma walked up to her with Tim at her side, and shook Helena's hand.

"Hmm.... Blonde. Huntress could become a blonde..." Helena thought aloud, inspecting Gemma. "In shape, would be easy to train..."

Helena suddenly threw a punch at Gemma and she dodged quickly.

"HEY! What the he-" Gemma was cut off.

"Quick reflexes... Okay, you've passed stage 1. Time for stage 2." Helena approved. "Tell me about your life. Your family."

Gemma suddenly felt very uncomfortable. She had just met this woman and she was asking about her life. Gemma didn't want to talk about her dad, her aunts, Arkham, the suffering. It all seemed like too much.

Tim took her hand and Gemma took a deep breath.

The story flooded out like water. Everything. Her dad, his death, her aunts and uncles. Everything. Gemma had a few tears roll down her cheeks, but she quickly wiped them away, not wanting to show weakness.

"You have an interesting backstory, kid." Helena studied Gemma's face. "You have something to fight for."

Gemma nodded.

She did have something to fight for. Putting Joker behind bars, revenge, saving innocent people, protecting herself.

"Well, Gemma. You've passed. We start training tomorrow, right here, at 8 am." Helena turned to leave. "I look forward to training you."
