Chapter 7: Under a Steel Sky

World of Floating Islands

Jaune just stared at the portal in front of him, hesitating to go through just like the first time he opened it up. The first time it was because he was nervous, this time it was because of fear from the previous adventure he had in the last world. He did receive some therapy from Sol about how to handle seeing these types of things while he travels. Though he was reluctant to hear any advice that would come from someone who was insane, Sol was incredibly knowledgeable and had experienced much more than Jaune ever could imagine. Taking a deep breath, he remembered what Sol told him and that is to keep an open mind with the universe, that anything and everything is possible in it. Erasing his fears, Jaune stepped into the portal.

(Scene Change)

The first thing that Jaune noticed when he exited the portal was the giant steel sky that was above him. The next thing he noticed was that he was not standing on anything.

"AHHHHHH" Jaune screamed as gravity took control and he started to fall towards the ground. The portal dropped him off high in the air, so Jaune was in quite a predicament as he was now caught in a free fall.

'Focus Jaune! This should be easy for you, you just got to remember your landing strategy.' Thought Jaune as he remembered a similar situation to this which was the beacon initiation. He tried to think of the strategy he used in the emerald forest, only to realize one thing that he forgot about.

'I don't have a landing strategy!' Jaune just kept screaming as he saw the ground get closer and closer as he continued to fall. Looking around to see there was nothing nearby he could grab with his vectors, Jaune brought his arms up to shield his head and activate his semblance to boost his aura to tank the fall as he soon hit the ground, kicking up a large amount of dust from the impact. Jaune soon got up from where he crashed landed, coughing a bit as the dust started to subside, and was able to breathe the fresh air.

"I'm alive!" he cheered as he did a quick check of his body to make sure nothing was damaged or broken. Seeing he was uninjured, Jaune started to take in his surroundings and saw he was in an arena-like area and that he was also not alone as two people were staring at him.

One was a blonde-haired male who was wearing indigo pants with a sleeveless shirt and belt. He also had brown boots, gauntlets, and a pauldron over his left shoulder. In his hands was a large broadsword with a single edge.

The other was a female with light-brown hair with a large pink ribbon in it. She wore a shin-length pink dress and a red bolero jacket. She also had on brown boots, a flower necklace with a pearl in the center on a leather ribbon, and a trio of bracelets on her wrists. Like the male she also had a weapon in her hands, hers being a staff.
