Had he been a moment too slow, he slash would have left him gravely wounded, its arc gouging a deep scar into the earth behind him. Realizing the weakness of his current vessel, Sephiroth released a dark mist that spread across the sanctuary, warping the surroundings into something more grotesque and disturbing before vanishing into the air. From the flesh-covered floor, a new monster emerged—an abomination that would become their foe, or, in Jaune's case, a mere warm-up.

[Calamity from the Stars, Jenova Lifeclinger]
Jenova Lifeclinger ensnared Barret, Tifa, Red XIII, Yuffie, and Cait Sith in crackling electrical binds before hurling them beyond the grotesque wall of flesh, leaving only Cloud and Jaune to confront the monstrous entity. Cloud felt a surge of apprehension being alone with a relentless force of destruction and Jenova Lifeclinger while Jaune, oblivious to the absence of his allies, charged headlong at Jenova Lifeclinger, fueled solely by the desire to obliterate the enemy before him. In a panic, Jenova Lifeclinger lashed out with one of its tentacles, but Jaune skillfully sliced it away with his vectors before delivered a devastating uppercut to the creature's skull-like head, executing a potent combination of his Arcane Dragon's Destruction Fist and searing flames.
Jenova Lifeclinger howled in torment as the impact of the punch threatened to detach its head from its body. The flames enveloping Jaune's hand only intensified the agony. Without hesitation, Jaune summoned his blood sword from his inventory and plunged it deep into Jenova Lifeclinger, driving it to the hilt. Channeling his gale magic through the blade, a fierce torrent of razor-sharp winds erupted from within Jenova Lifeclinger's body, ripping the creature apart from the inside out.
Jenova Lifeclinger released a powerful mourning wail, its voice's sheer force pushing Jaune away, though the blood sword remained embedded within its flesh. Instantly teleporting across the arena, Jenova swiftly regenerated and erected a fleshy wall for protection against Jaune. As it unleashed a barrage of laser fire from its wings, all aimed at Jaune, who remained unscathed by the wail. In response, Jaune countered with searing beams of concentrated flames, overpowering the lasers and then unleashing Arcane Dragon's Chaos Wave to obliterate the flesh barrier and landing another heavy strike on Jenova Lifeclinger.
