Emma:

I'm sitting on the couch watching painting my nails and blowing on them so they can dry that's when my little brother Elliot comes into the kitchen. He's pouring a bowl of cereal.

Elliot- "I saw you and Rikki yesterday"

Emma-" yeah you did she comes over all the time with Cleo and Lewis"

Elliot-" so are you like in love with her"

I hear the words come out of his mouth. I turn my head around to look at him.

Emma-" what do you mean" I laugh a little.

Elliot- "I saw you two kiss by the beach, I was playing soccer with my friends on the grass and I looked over and saw you two kissing."

Emma-" Elliot I'm sure what you saw wasn't me it was probably two other people that looked like me and Rikki"

Elliot-"no it was you, you were wearing your pink and green striped shirt."

Emma-" you're not going to tell mom and dad right?"

Neil Gilbert (dad) Lisa Gilbert (mom) both enter the living room.

Mom-" tell us what exactly"

Elliot looks at me from the kitchen and I look back at him hoping he doesn't say anything to our parents.

Dad-"well what is it?"

Elliot-" um.. we are almost out of cereal see"

Elliot holds up the box that is in his hand and the box is actually almost empty.

Mom-"alright then me and your father are getting groceries now. Perfect timing."

Both of them then leave the house. Start the car then they are gone.

Emma-" thanks"

Elliot-" for what?"

Emma-" for not saying anything about you know."

Elliot-" you can Rikki you mean?"

Emma-" yeah"

Elliot-"so two girls can kiss, are you in love then?"

Elliot come over to sit down next to me with his bowl of cereal in his hands.

Emma-" yeah I am"

Elliot-" that's cool"

Emma-" but seriously you can't say anything to mom or dad.. we don't talk about these things you know."

Elliot-" why not it's just love?"

Emma-" some people in this world don't understand that though Elliot, just please listen to me okay."

Elliot-"alright"

[ beep beep]

Emma-" it's Rikki she's here"

I go to the front door and let Rikki inside the two of us run upstairs to my room.
